Went with a group of friends from my church and went to PKI's Fear Fest. We arrived at the park at 7:45 pm. When they let us in we split up into two groups. One group went on the rides that were opened while the other group went haunting. I went with the haunting group.
Our first haunted attraction was the Maze of Madness. As we entered, yours truly ended up being the leader of the group. It was my sworn to duty to try and get us out of the maze. But in the middle of the walk, my group realized I was walking in circles. I was demoted to the back of the line. One word advice, never let me lead any of you guys through a haunted
maze.
My rating for the Maze of Madness: 3 1/2 screams out of 4.
After the maze we took a quick break and rode Flight of Fear (some break huh?). As usual FoF was running great. It seemed that the launch was faster this time during the season.
The next haunted attraction was the Trail of Terror. It was a little walk back behind the maintainence area of the park to get to the trail. The Trail of Terror was pretty dark back in the woods. There was some moments I jumped. But overall it was okay.
My rating on Trail of Terror: 2 1/2 screams out of 4.
The next haunting after the Trail of Terror was the Circus of Horrors in 3-D. This haunted attraction was in the Festhause. Before we entered we had to put on our three demensional visors to see the clouns in 3-D. The 3-D effects were cool especially the vortex tunnel.
My rating on Circus of Horrors: 3 screams 0ut of 4.
Then we had dinner at the Festhause and had some LaRosa's pizza. Then it was time to hit the big daddy himself THE BEAST.
Before I tell you about the night ride I wanted to point out that only three rides were running due to the cold weather. Beast, Racer, and FoF were the only rides running. SOB, Drop Zone, Adventure Express, and Vortex were closed.
Now back to the Beast ride. Since some of you have ridden it. I want to give advice on riding in cold weather conditions. Wear a ski mask or some type of face warmer. You will get major wind burn on this ride. The Beast packed a really good wallop on us. The second tunnel was picth black. Papa Beast kept its speed throughout the whole ride. The breaks in the break shed were barely on. And its grande finale double helix had raw power. Overall the Beast was kicking mjor butt.
Next up was the House of Darkness. This was my favorite haunted attraction out of all of them. Good scares, good scenes, and great special effects. They had some cool animatronics too. Overall the best one there.
My rating on the House of Darkness: 4 screams out of 4.
Our final haunted attraction was Curse of the Crypt. It was pretty much like last year's mummy haunting only it had more mummies. The mummies were a little bit better. My buddy's girlfriend kept hiding her face in my jacket. I was in front of here wile he was behind her. I told him that she was hugging me again. All he did was laugh.
My rating for Curse of the Crypt: 2 1/2 screams out of 4.
Now the final thing we did to end the night of Fear Fest was get one more ride on Flight of Fear. This was the best way to end the night. When we rode FoF earlier, the lights were turned on in the main building. But this time we finally got to ride it the way it's supposed to be ridden. In total darkness. This was the best ride on FoF I ever had. I lost all sense of direction, we flew through the coaster's course fast. I wish the park would run it like this. every year. It makes the ride a hole lot better with the total drkness.
Well that pretty much sums up my trip to Fear Fest. Overall I hope PKI keeps Fear Fest for a while. Well I hope you enjoyed my trip report. This was my first one on this board.
Later!
