Fantastic Final Flights with the Flying Eagles - October 17th, 2004

What an AWESOME Flyer Report. You captured so much of how I feel about that ride, and how my final rides went on Saturday the 9th. Such a sad ending to a fantastic family ride loved by all. The look of the faces of little kids riding for the first time, and then their faces of joy when the ride got them addicted. I love PKI, but like I said in my Letter to the editor last is like the heart being ripped out of Kings Island. I hope we won't have to go thru this with the Beast some day. But right now with paramount, it worries me.

So you were the person with the buttons? I was trying to find one of those buttons all day before someone told me they were all gone. =:^(

At least I got a sticker patch. =:^)

I am glad you got to take a final ride. I also have called the Flying Eagles the heart of the park before. I honestly believe that. Thanks fo reading.

Great TR Sean, I always look forward to seeing stuff from you.

As a Carowinds regular, I will say I was definitely excited to hear that we would be getting the Eagles, yet it was bittersweet as I knew how much all of you in the PKI area enjoyed the scooters, and the camaraderie that went along with them. It is important to remember that his is nothing more than a new chapter in the life of a wonderful ride, not the end of the book completely.

Being one of the few Carolinians who is already 'flyer proficient' (by no means and expert, but I know my way around a bird ;) ) I look foward to spreading the flyer love and knowledge with the general public and enthusiasts alike, so that they are as loved in their new home as they were in the old.

I'm going to Carowinds the last weekend of operation to take some construction pics, and get a few year-end rides on Top Gun. I will definitely share the pics, if the birds are down there by then. Opening day should be a blast next year. And I will try to keep you all regularly updated on the status of the beloved birds. Looking foward to visits from all of you 'Flyer Fanatics' next year. ;)

Beautiful TR Sean. You actually put into words how people feel. Except now I'm crying at work and just can't tell people I'm upset about "only" the moving of a ride (some people just don't get it).

It's good to know that they will be appreciated at Carowinds. See you there next year.

I like to ride woodies.

JUst great Sean. I was there that night and got to meet you, although you probablydont remember me as i was the 16 year-old with the dragster t on(had no eagle shirt, yet). I love this TR. I felt the same way. As myself and John got off the ride for the last time, I lloked at my uncle, then John, then everyone else, and we all ahd that balnk stare of confusion. I wanted to just laugh and smile as usual after my last ride at night, but didn't have it in me. By the same token, I neither had the need to tear up. I was just in sort of an awe.

I, too, just want to thank everyone again for that experience. I am glad the park was treated kindly nasd that they put on this especially great event. To the memories.

BTW: Those two girls are my heroes!(hopefully my g/f doesnt see thislol)

lol, don't worry Sean, I'll be making more buttons that I'll pass out on closing day, 11/7.

Anyone interested, tell me, so I know how many to make this time ;)

There you are! I knew you read but wasn't sure if you posted or not. Thanks for responding.

You have a good view on how you look at it. I tend to look at it a similar way althought it was so difficult to do that the first couple of days after. I know it will be thrilling people next year which is a better option than scrapping it. Yes, please share the construction photos so we can see how the ole' girl is doing.

Thank you "Mr. Airtime" =:^)

I had a great time with so many people including yourself. I haven't seen many of you in a long, long time but but it was amazing to see all that lost time spliced back up where it left off. I really hope closing day will be just as cool, although it will be difficult to top the times we had last weekend.

That is a very nice compliment. Thank you so much. You are right. Some people just don't get it. Such a shame.

Was your shirt the one that has the view of the first drop looking down? If it is, then I remember you. You were there in line for most of the day if I remember correctly.

Very cool! I am sure they will be popular on closing day.

I will be there on the last day, and I would love a button. I will be the guy with the really dirty white (at least it use to be) Ohio State hate. How much for a signed one? ;)

To those people that tell me that "You Ohio State fans think your better than everyone." It's because we are. :)

My buttons came Monday, but I guess thats the price that you pay to get them professionally done.

OK, I hope to make the morning walkback that day, otherwise I'll be at Beast for the customary last ride of the season.
