Family of boy who saw Brancheau drowning at SeaWorld Orlando sues park

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The family of a New Hampshire 10-year-old who watched a killer whale batter and drown a trainer at SeaWorld has filed suit against the amusement park, the Daily News has learned. Todd and Suzanne Connell, who took their son Bobby to Florida in February to celebrate his 10th birthday, say the boy looked straight into Dawn Brancheau's eyes as the doomed trainer briefly freed herself from the orca's jaws.

I'm starting to think boobs are the root of all problems.

I just walked by a woman breastfeeding a baby with each boob while tanning herself in the sunshine. I'm so emotionally traumatized that I think I need to sue someone.

Yeah? How many millionaires have your lawyer family members "made?" How many are made by winning lawsuits every year? How does that compare to previous years? What's the average "score" for winning a civil suit?

Ya know, I actually made a phone call this morning to get some "cold hard facts" just to prove a point. Ironically, I then got a phone call from a friend in the industry who knows who I am on here and basically said the same thing the Ops Director wrote on here. Jeff, you really need to watch yourself because you are right on the line of becoming intolerable to a lot of people and could destroy a good thing you have going here. Losing the attitude and showing a little respect and civility towards others would behoove you.

I'm intolerable because you don't agree with me? Because I call out what I perceive as unattributed nonsense? Whatever dude... don't make it about me. I'll do things as I see fit, and if you don't agree with that, you're certainly welcome to not visit the site instead of making a big dramatic production of it. Seriously, people have been predicting the end of CoasterBuzz for ten years.

So what are the "cold hard facts?" I don't have a problem with being wrong, but that's not going to happen by making it about me.

Jeff, YOU make it about YOU when you post comments like:

"Whatever dude... don't make it about me. I'll do things as I see fit, and if you don't agree with that, you're certainly welcome to not visit the site instead of making a big dramatic production of it. Seriously, people have been predicting the end of CoasterBuzz for ten years."

That is called a flippant attitude. You've been called on it before and you continue to dishonor your readers by treating them with such disrespect and ill regard. Maybe that is not your intention but that is how you definitely come across which is why I received that phone call today from a friend in the industry and how this topic's comments have been discussed around the office. Take my constructive criticism and advice as you see fit. I am done with this topic and conversation.

Not trying to go back on topic or anything, but this story reminds me so much of when NBC was showing video of that young teenager dying on that luge track. Just saying.

Well it's been a few years since we've had a good, "Boo hoo, Jeff picks on me!" It's pretty sad that anyone sits around "the office" calling people and talking about some douchebag who runs a coaster site. On a scale of things important in the world, I doubt very highly that what I have to say ranks anywhere in the top 99%.

Today's secret word is... Tone!!! Now you all know what to do when you hear the secret word, right? :)

Jeff, you need to put more smileys after your posts, so people might understand that you not "that" big of a jerk.

If Gonch and Jeff were in a jerk contest, who would win? It would depend on the mood of the readers (or contest judges) at the time that they read Gonch or Jeff's posts.

I assume that a lot of us are somewhat narcissistic? ;)

Jeff's avatar

That depends. Can you be a narcissist if you don't take yourself that seriously?

No mater what was going on with the trainer this all boils down to an act of nature. There was littel the park could do. This would be like suing the park service because the kid saw a deer hit by a car.

Perhaps they could install a triggered curtain to shield the tank area from view in an instant, like an airbag. Shark attack? Curtain call!
