False Rumors about DejaVU at SFGam opening soon!

ATTENTION!!!! IT WILL UNLIKELY OPEN THIS YEAR!!! From what i am hearing from people that i know that work there, they doubt it will open this year and if it does it would be during the last week of Frieght Fest. I trust my sources very well, especially since other people i know are hearing the same thing. I do have to say all this year that so called website has been posting many false rumors and news. If SFGam was going to open it this year it would be in the media and there has not been a date announced at all or anything about it opening by my sources who is a writer with the Chicago Tribune and another writer that I know from the Daily Herald confirms the same thing.

Where does sixflagsnews.com get their info?  It does'nt say in the artice.  Your right though, seems fishy to me.  Well i'll be there on the sixth either way, i'll report what I see.  -Patrick

I don't care if it opens this year or not. It would be nice if it did, but I am gonna go a couple more times this year anyway. It's a great park, worth going to regardless of Deja Vu.

-------------
Current favorite coasters:
Wooden: 1) Beast 2) Raven 3) Son of Beast 4) The Boss 5) Timber Wolf
Steel: 1) Raging Bull 2) Millennium Force 3) V2 4) Wild Thing 5) Mr. Freeze

I want it to be open, but it doesnt matter to me.  Im going on the last weekend for fright fest, but if it isnt open its ok. Any park with a raging bull is good.
The only thing that will tick me off, is if they dont open anything new next year, and just advertise Deja Vu.
I could care less if it opens this year. I'm not going back there until next season. Patrick K, your spoiled! Complaining about a new coaster for 2002, and not second one or new flat rides... please. Many other parks havn't gotten a new coaster in 3+ years. I think if you get ticked off about having "only Deja Vu" you're just plain spoiled!

Hey, SFGAm management, can I buy a couple cages of Sky Whirl?

I hate how six flags GAM advertises two new rollercoasters at the beginning of the year and when you get there only one is open. Then when you get to the park ( this cracks me up) it says deja vu MAY not open today. At least tell the customers the truth.
The only reason it would tick me off is because like "Cedar Point" said - They advertised both coasters for this year.  What i'm saying is that if they had plans to build another ride next year, and don't simply because of this fubar, and they don't want to waste the advertising campaign, it would suck.  The only park I visit is Great America, and I love what they have done in the past 10 years, I just always look forward to what they are going to do next. -Patrick
The American Coasters Network website is saying that an opening this coming weekend "has been reported, but not confirmed".

I watched the darn thing test.  It worked perfectly.  Open it already!!

I suggest maybe visiting the park Friday Oct. 5th...

(and by the way, your sources are wrong...it's VERY likely to open)

They're a lot of people posting here who have the wrong perceptions of Six Flags Great America or any theme park for that matter.

SFGA advertised for 2 coasters in 2002 because they honestly thought they'd have two coasters running this year.  They're not purposely trying to "screw" anyone over by not opening it when its not ready.

Until you have some experience in the advertising field or at least have an idea on how amusement park business functions don't make statements knocking parks for false advertising.

Well i do know that Attorney General Jim Ryan of the State of IL went after SFGam for false advertising and wrongfull practices since they were advertising that both were open or going to be open for the public to ride in 2001 when they weren't open nor even halfway done being built. And please don't believe everything that U read, just because a website say something, it may not be true. Plus testing it means nothing, they are testing it to make sure all the kinks are worked out of it and that it would be able to pass all state, local and federal inspections.

ILMForceJunkie, your right when you say the park got sued, but please refer to the judges opinion and what SFGAM did in response.

Your also right when you say don't believe everything you read, I wish more people would try that.

Where did i ever say they got sued in the first place? SFGam admitted to guilt and retracted the ad campaign but i took the attorny general of IL to get them to pull the ads in the first place. AND YES THEY SCREWED PEOPLE ESPCIALLY SEASON PASS HOLDERS AND PEOPLE THAT GO ON TRIPS JUST TO RIDE THESE NEW RIDES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC!!! Why because just the fact that it took the State of IL to have them pull their ad campaign when SFGam should have pulled it in the first place so there wouldnt be alot of angry people. For all people who and why are U defending 6 Flags? Do U work for them or something? They should have pulled the ads when the caosters were not running.  I seriously didn't mind when they advertised back in Feb. in the Season Pass renewal packet that the park had 2 new coasters 2001, but to go a couple months into the season still advertising that both coasters were open or "New For 2001!" is just rediculis and very bad publicity and management. That is a big reason why 6 Flags stock has severly tanked this year and attendance has been down at a their parks. They should have pulled the ad campaign in March/April when they knew that they wouldn't open either coasters. They had those ads running untill July for both coasters and thats when the State jumped in and stoped it.

Thats funny. I bought my season pass in late May and I didnt feel screwed. At that time both coasters werent supposedly open to the public at that time. Fortunately V2 was running that day but I couldnt ride (Another story). When you work in the marketing department, you have to prove a great sell. Its that simple. By saying these coasters are operating for the 2001 season, they thought both were to be open and even if one of them (Deja-Vu) opens at the end of the season, even though we dont like it, its still this season. Junkie, or whatever you want to call yourself. You can sit here and say you have friends and others in all the right places but it doesnt change anything with what SF is doing. We are not going to start bowing down to you and thinking that you have the underground info into what SFGAm is doing. If your so-called connections know the facts, then by all means have them submit a news item.
