The Disneyland Paris theme park closed Thunder Mountain on Monday after a piece of scenery fell onto one of the carriages and injured five people, one seriously, a state official told Reuters.

Ouch, though not entirely unprecedented either. I've been on some coasters in Asia where the clearance to the scenery is not designed for tall western tourists. Particularly memorable was getting a tree branch in the face at Yomiuriland...

Kind of surprising in that it was really more maintenance than construction. Not SO surprising when we take into consideration that theming elements aren't something you'd rotunely check for wear-and-tear or damage...hope the one person injured more seriously is OK.
