Fall closing dates

I have noticed especially most Six Flags parks are closed weekdays during the last 2 weeks of August and most other park otherwise closes during the last week of August. Now Valleyfair and Cedar Point and PKI are a few rare parks that stay opened daily until Labor Day. And even Holiday World closes durinf the last week of August. Now I understand that school starting before Labor Day in some areas may have something to do with this. So my question is this: Is this a new trend? Because I thought all major parks were opened daily until Labor Day and now I have to wait until fall to go to SFStL to avoid excessive crowds since I fear that the last two weekends will cause me to wait 1/2 hour to an hour for Boss. :-( I wish I knew about the pre-Labor Day weekday closing before than I would have taken a trip earlier.

School, believe it or not it does cost money to operate a park, and if SF isn't bringing in enough of a profit, they won't open...and I don't know why the other parks are. BUT PLEASE be more specific with your title. "A question that needs a answer" is a stupid title. No offense, but it is, so how about "Parks opening weekdays in August." That way people don't waste their time going into a topic that they have no interest it.

I know that SFWoA is open til Labor Day.
SFNE will stay open till Nov 3.

SFNE's Superman's the best!

Not just that local schools are going back , but their employess who attend local colleges go back, as well, so their staffing pool is greatly diminished...I would be willing to bet that that is a large factor in that decision, as well..

Thanks Great America!

I still wanted to know if this is a recent trend? I haven't noticed this before because of my local park staying open daily until Labor Day and Cedar Point doing the same thing so it caught me off guard. In other words my question is did most SF park stay open daily until Labor Day a few years ago or did this just happen in the last few years. Like I said I can't blame the park closing early if they can't make money while kids are in school so I was wondering if schools are starting earlier now than in the past causing the park to shorten their weekday seasons?
