Falcons Fury vs other drop towers

Hey everyone! I currently live about 4 hours from Tampa for school. Curious to ride Falcons Fury but I am thinking about visiting Six Flags Great Adventure also later this summer. Six Flags has more roller coasters. How is falcons fury compared to other drop towers like zumanjaro? Everyone raves about falcons fury but I don't want to pay $89 just to mainly go on falcons fury. I've been on busch garden's other rides and although they're good, they aren't as fun as six flags great adventure or cedar point. Cedar point is my home park. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

You are speaking of the two most intense drop towers on the planet - both must be ridden to be appreciated. And while SFGAdv has some stand out coasters (El Toro and Nitro), I prefer BGT. If all of the coasters were closed at BGT on the day I visited, I could still have a great time. That is definitely not the case at SFGAdv.

I'm not sure it's 89.00 good...

If you're not willing to spend the money....then don't. I don't pay for one specific ride when I enter a park (that's like, really stupid), I pay for the experience and the enjoyment I have with my friends. BGT isn't the park for you if all you're looking for are roller coasters. There's so much more to do at that place. IMO your mindset is entirely wrongheaded about BGT and you probably shouldn't go there for that reason.

I'm not sure I understand this defensive reply. All that was said is that the BGT experience may not be worth a pricetag that is almost $100. A sentiment I agree with 100%

Where did that come from? And perhaps more importantly, why does your approach to parks supersede someone else's? Are they not allowed to enjoy BGT the way they want to?

Of course, the caveat here is that making a trip to a park for a specific ride can end in disaster if that ride is closed...but I won't tell you it's wrong to do so.

Thanks guys for your replies. I'm an adrenaline junkie and love trying new rides. Busch Gardens is a fantastic park. I just wanted to know how falcons fury was as a drop ride. I've been skydiving and been on many roller coasters and was trying to see how they compare or if the experience is very unique.

Falcon's Fury was a vast improvement over the ball-crushing Acrophobia.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Busch Tampa is a giant park with a lot to offer. It should easily be a full day experience, and for so many people it is. The last several years the places has just severely underwhelmed me with closures and lackluster operations.

That said, Falcons Fury is an unbelievably fun ride. And they do have a great steel coaster collection. I just don't think the current condition of the park warrants the Orlando parks pricetag.

Not to mention that GrAdv has that ridiculous ride restriction policy. They won't let you store your leftover sandwich in your cargo pants while you ride. Bastards.

First they charge me for the sandwich. Then they charge me to hold the leftovers while I ride!?

Bull****! I'm a coaster enthusiast! I know how to safely store leftovers while riding. My street name is tupperware!

One time I rode Kingda Ka with overt a quart of gravy on my person...and now they say I can't!? I don't think so.

Ok guys got back from visiting Busch Gardens Tampa today. It's a pretty cool park. Has a few solid coasters. Falcons Fury is the highlight of the park in terms of rides, in my opinion. It's a very fun ride. I think every park should have a drop tower like falcon. I don't think I'll go out of my way to visit again though unless I happen to be in Tampa. I give Falcon a 10/10. A very cool and unique experience. The drop itself was exhilarating although I have been on drop towers/ roller coasters that had a more intense drop. I would go on falcon again if I ever happen to be in Tampa.

I've been wanting to go back to BGT for a long time now. I've always considered it to be one of my favorite parks due to their awesome coaster collection, and our son has been tall enough for too long now. I'm a little discouraged to hear how poor the operations have been in the last few years. Either way, we'll make it there eventually.

Do you think they'd let me ride with my cat? Her name is Kumba.

I also found Cheetah Hunt to be a lot more fun than expected. It's not the most thrilling ride in the world, but it is smooth, comfortable, and just makes me giggle.

Holy crap, did anyone have else read the description of the new SkyJump?!? I guess Intamin didn't learn their lesson about reinventing the wheel with the Shoot the Rapids failure.

But then again, what do I know?

Cheetah Hunt is the textbook definition of a "thrilling family coaster" - folks who wouldn't dare ride Sheikra or even Montu or Kumba are generally ok to give it a try. And it is still an incredibly fun ride for enthusiasts and folks who have no problem riding Falcons Fury without it even raising their pulse.

What I think is ironic is that Cheetah Hunt may be okay for those not up to SheiKra or whatever, but it's a substantially better ride. I go back and forth on whether it or Kumba is my favorite ride there.

Intamin has to keep re-inventing the wheel after their wheels kill / de-foot-pitate people.

Falcons looks... interesting. In the past I've tried riding regular drop towers with my head bent down staring at the ground. I found looking out, or say, down at a slight angle, to be better than looking directly below you. But of course I want to try it as it's a new experience.

I'd say my favorite drop tower I've ever ridden was Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom. It's so ridiculously high, and the drop seems to last forever. (Haven't ridden Kingda Ka's drop tower yet.)

Haven't ridden Cheetah Hunt yet, but I've heard mixed reviews. When the CGI POV was announced, it looked like the most amazing ride in the world. (I'm a big fan of ground hugging speed) Then when the real POV came out it looked incredibly slow and my excitement died down a bit. That's not to say I don't want to ride it though. Still looks great.
