Fact: People complained that Volcano's final drop is wasted and are doing the same with HS!
1) Anyone reckon the brakes on HS will be brutual? The train will be moving at 70mph or so when hitting the brakes! My point is I hate extreme braking as this is a pain in the neck, literally. Also in extreme cases, the brakes will make me nauseous! Weird, as never feel that on ANYWHERE else on a coaster!!!
Funny story, read it! I drank a yellow Gatorade before riding the Demon (Vekoma Boomerang) 3 times in a row. On the final ride, the train was empty and practically stopped on a 10 cent coin (Dime to you yanks! Just kidding). Oh my stomach! Got off feeling really queasy & held it in as didn't want ride-ops to see. As I walked down the exit path, my mouth started to water uncontrollably. Around the corner, out came GREEN Gatorade!!!!!
2) Why don't they brake the train slowly when it's near empty??
Fact: The downwards vertical track is short as S&S probably want to reduce the pull-out Gs. It's just about the only explanation. There is the original prototype you know. Ah ah, so HS is not a prototype, well is one to the public - public schmuplic!! There might be more vert track on bigger versions.
3) Anyone know how fast the train will be travelling at the top of the hill? On the animation at the above site it slows to a near stop in order to reduce dangerous negative Gs. There are booster wheels with one-way bearings to stop the train rolling back. You wouldn't want to fly out of your seat would you?? This is why designers have a hard time with 90 degree drops.

To whom posted a reply, sorry, I redid the topic. I've added a link to the video to see for yourself how the car slows down at the top.

That was wierd, what happened? I thought I was editing my post.
Anyways, I thought it may stop like a car, and it does look like it crawls across the top, and I was going to say the guys on TV looked comfy and happy riding the original prototype. Plus, I hope to have a good push, a launch to speed seems like it would have to be more gradual, though, doesn't it? Maybe it really jumps to a rapid acceleration very quickly after it has already been launched, like the most of the speed is gained in the last half second or so of the time for the acceleration. I know that almost sounds silly or impossible, but who knows.
There is also a ride review on thrillride, I think, from the prototype in the TV special.

You notice, on the first picture, how short the drop looks. I always see that, on pics of Magnum and MF.
Sorry to get off topic, but being I don't know very much aboot(or about)the technical stuff, I won't respond.
