For the record, I think having a TOS is a good thing because these discussion groups need monitored, but it shouldn't be used in a way that restricts people's freedom of speech.
Coaster enthusiasts are a good example of the problems that society has. Everything is offensive to society and everything is offensive to a coaster enthusiast. You can't praise parks in Pennsylvania because it will hurt the feelings of coaster enthusiasts everywhere else, just like in society. We now have that awful two-word phrase "politically correct". This means that no one is welcome to have any freedom at all. If another man decides to ask me out and I tell him I would rather date a girl, I am wrong and being unfair to gays because I want to date girls. If I sing a folk song about someone who kills his girlfriend because she was cheating on him, it is wrong. I still sing that certainsong that Idedicate to a certain exgirlfriend in my shows because the song is about a woman who cheated on her boyfriend with a guy named Dave. My ex cheated on me with a guy named Dave and guess what, she is a coaster enthusiast. Why do I do this in my shows, the answer is simple-it is called freedom of artistic expression, which is defended by the constitution of the United States of America. Sure it may offend some people, but the freedom that gives me the right to do these things also gives them the right to live their lives their way. I do not want anything in this post to send a message that I hate anyone, I just think it is a shame that freedoms that are given to us by the Constituion of the United States are taken away when you are on a roller coaster discussion group.
In closing, I would like to say that my topic about the best state for coasters and parks was intended to cause people to promote parks and coaster they like. Why would any coaster enthusiast be offended by the promotion of coasters and parks? It is a shame that the TOS of an internet discussion group is given more consideration than the Constitution of the United States of America. The TOS needs changed.

Yes, but don't mature people e-mail the webmaster about a problem, and not make a public rant and get banned?

I could care less if you're swearing but this *is not* America, never has been, never will be. This is the *internet* which is a worldwide thing last time I checked. Yes, most posters here are from America but there are plenty of others that post regularly or semi-regularly. Web sites are *not* subject to rules like free speech, they're subject to the whims of the owner who spends all their time, money and energy on them.
I don't like moderation any more than you do but it's a fact of life with these web based boards...if you hate it that much feel free to join the rec.roller-coaster community, it's the oldest and longest lasting coaster devoted presence. It's been around long before Coasterbuzz and I'm sure it'll exist long after as well. The side effect? Trolls who can't be stopped and rampant OT posting (the OT posting I personally enjoy)
If RRC doesn't sound like your cup of tea then your only other option is to grin and bear it...all of the good web boards have similar TOS agreements (though admittedly some are more gestapo-esque in their enforcement than others) and moderation.

You want to get rid of all rules so there can be a whole bunch of idiots flaming people in a state of anarchy? Show me any country that uses this type of "governing" that's actually successful, and then we can talk about not having a TOS. Until then, either leave or sit back and stay calm like the rest of us. Posting threads that attack the owners or their ways of enforcing their rules won't get you very far, except kicked out the door.

People make this big deal about what a bastard I am and about how I get off on closing topics. Anyone who does so shouldn't flatter themselves... I don't have the time nor interest in making it personal just for the sake of feeling better about the size of my genitals.
When you're a guest in someone's house, you should respect that instead of pissing on the floor. We've got rules we apply evenly, and as a result have something that many sites don't... actual meaningful conversation.
