Eye Protection ???

With the higher speeds that we are reaching with the coasters (and other rides), should we be thinking of some type of goggles or protection that the park will not make us remove?

I've always ridden with my prescription glasses on, and until this year, never been asked to take them off. I've been warned a few times that I might want to take them off, but until riding Power Tower (CP) and The Nor'Easter (Morey's Piers) this year never been forced to take them off.

I not only can't see very well, being nearsighted, but am not very comfortable without the protection and not to mention a nauseous feeling from not being able to focus.

Does anyone know what type of strap or goggles that no park will refuse you to wear.

I'm sure some buzz people will think it's crazy, but it only takes a little bug to ruin someone's day.
You can ride with your glasses on on Power Tower and Millennium Force if you have an eye-glass strap.
Safty goggles wouldn't help much on Mean Streak at night when the Mayflys are there. You need one of those SWAT team face protecters. *** This post was edited by Steel Phantom 1991-2000 on 8/25/2000. ***
Actually, it really just depends on the park and more importantly, who is working the ride. Case-in-point, S:ROS @ SFA; I have ridden this ride about 10-15 times this year. I tend to leave my glasses on on any ride that doesnt have OTSRs. The first time I got on S:ROS, I had a strap on my glasses, but the op made me remove them anyway. On other times, I have been able to ride with them freely. There seems to be no consistancy. The main reason I like wearing my glasses on hypers is so that I wont have to wipe my eyes after the ride is over. But to answer your question. I think if you had some Kareem Abdul-Jaabar type goggles, they would let you slide.

LOL... yeah, you need the SWAT team goggles, heh..

Yeah, Superman Ride Of Steel- SFDL a bug in someones eye made a lawsuit out of it... and a *major injury* to the eye... interesting...

I've had to take mine off for Jokers Jinx, and The Great Nor'easter too, but BGW never said a thing about 'em when I rode AC! So, it has to be the ops that decide. (I don't like to take mine off either) The part that shocked me is i could leave them on for the Mind Eraser at SFA and not GN.
Hmmm... this topic reminds me of Fabio getting hit by the bird on Apollo's Chariot...
The only two coasters I had to remove my glasses on were both at SFA Stupidman and Jokers Junk. I even had to take my fanny pack off on Stupidman. I didn't have a problem on Millennim Force or Apollo though. :) The only ride I do take my glasses offf on are the river rapid rides. I almost lost mine at Hershey on Canyon River Rapids about 8 years ago. :(
