Eye glasses? to wear or not to wear?

I tried wearing my glasses on a few coasters at SFGAm and it just didnt work. They are tight fitting and they stayed on, but I was just too worried about whether they would fall off. I use a hard case and put them in the hard case just before getting on the ride and put the case in a fanny pack. I have never had a problem at any park with this, even at SFWOA where everyone says they have problems with fanny packs. I even used this configuration on X-Flight without a problem. I may try a strap on my Florida trip this winter and see if that works.Cheers,Bob Hansen

Interesting. I've never had, nor even heard of, problems at SFWoA with fanny packs. SFA is another story, however.

SFA is the only park I've EVER been to where a guy with croakies got hassled by the ride-ops (and we're talking SERIOUSLY hassled).  He ended up taking his glasses down, then putting them back on on the lift...good work.  Jill and I got on the next train, both with our ever-present croakies, and NOTHING was said...can't say too much for consistency there....or guest relations!

I tend to wear glasses on rides once in a while, if I know they wont come off. But usually, I have a pair of inexpensive shades that I know won't come off. Though it's really hard to read menu boards without my glasses!

Girls don't make passes at boys who wear glasses.

Glasses on.  I used to keep them in a case while riding, but no more.  There's just too much good stuff to see.  I use a loose-fitting strap on most rides, but only as a security blanket.  The only ride where my glasses even lifted from my nose was CP's Corkscrew, probably because of the hang time.
john peck: Clever! I need to remember that one. Mind if I borrow it?

I never wear glasses on roller coasters that go upside down, so I put them in my pocket (I always make sure to wear pants or shorts with cargo pockets). If it is a wooded coaster than I just leave them on.

I wear glasses on any coaster, even MF without a strap on.  Going upside down doesn't make any difference, just turn your head downward and shake it to see.

I always take mine off on any coaster, Raging Rapids, and the Aero 360 at Kennywood.  They are too expensive for me to lose, and I need them to drive also.

That's what I used to think, until I upgraded my look.  Women love glasses, you just need the right ones. ;) Oh yeah,  I always wear Croakies on the rides. Losing my glasses is a risk I'd rather not take.

The Chick gave me crap about my hip pack on X-flight. The funny thing is, I has just ridden the thing a few hours before with it on. Even though I was with my POSSE, I just acquiesed. Hell, the first time I rode S:ROS @ SFA I *had* on a strap and they still gave me crap...they pretty much leave me alone now though

Get contact lenses next time, then you won't have anything to worry about.

I've got laser eyes, and I know what you're thinking. It comes to no surprise, the Christmas lights are blinking.
Well, my friend Shawn lost his on Raging Bull and never got them back! That kinda sucks. He got contacts in a few weeks though.

Used to wear sunglasses all the time until last season. I lost my favorite pair while riding the Great White in Wildwood. That first drop is pretty powerful. I always take them off now. I always gotta learn the hard way. ;)

Ah, ok.  An inconsistency problem (gee, I've never seen THAT at any Six Flags park ;) )

I wear mine.  I used to think they would fall off.  I've ridden Joker's Jinx, Mind Eraser, and rides that stop you up-side-down and they haven't fallen off.  If they don't fall off on those rides then they shouldn't fall off on virtually and ride.

I usually leave mine in the car because I have had them float off my face on an unusually rough transition and I cant afford to lose them. I bought a granny pair of sun glasses that go over my regular glasses and bought a strap before our trip to MM, but guess what? I left the sunglasses and strap laying on the dresser in the hotel so I spent another half blind day riding coasters! Angela didn't forget her strap and we are happy to say she still has her sunglasses! ;)

Just a couple of G-force junkies!
I usually leave them on---except for when i rode x flight. I was visiting SFWoA and i was on Villain, when suddenly my friends hat flew off. That scared me so i put my glasses away. That was just temporary. I still wear them on rides.
Well yestersay I rode apollo14 times with my glasses on and once with out (forgot to take them off the secodn ride and realized they never budged so I left them on the rest of the day except alpen gheist I know a friend who almost lost hers on that) and I never lost them so go for it on B&M hypers!

All at once the ghosts come back reeling you in now.
Why deal with having to decide if you should wear eye glasses when you can get contacts. If I were you, I wouldn't wear your eye glasses on any coaster.

Contacts work great, and you don't have to worry about losing them on a coaster :)

Stealth. Not everyone can wear contacts. I know of quite a few people that have had problems with them. I just recently got glasses and I really dont even want to deal with contacts. I would sooner get the laser surgery(which I just might do in a few years).
