Extra set of wheels

Hey I was wondering,  does anyone know what the extra set of wheels on the back of some coaster trains are for? Is it for stability?

Normally, those type of trains are called trailer-articulated trains(I think).  The set up is like this:

the first car has a pair of wheels in the front and in the back.  then the second car's front is eing supported by the front cars back wheels.  the second car also has a pair of back wheels to support the third car's front and so on and so forth.  at the end of the train, you should have a leftover pair of trucks.  These are commonly found on Arrow loopers.  (I'm not 100% sure on this cuz I got it out of a ook)

They're trailering wheels. Rideman's Website has an excellent description.
That is pretty much it... basically the reverse of a B&M looper or hyper which has a "0" car.
They're not extra...they support the back end of the last car. Because the wheel assemblies are between the cars, and usually have the front end of a car over the axle, the last axle looks a little odd sitting out all by itself.

Thanks for the plug, Comatose! :)

Daven, I've been meaning to ask you a question,

In your track record on your site, you mention a plastic coaster. any idea where it's at? (pipeline express)

Any idea where I could get a picture of it? and is it a good ride?

Thanks Dave!
edit: Also, I couldn't find anything on the net about Vollmar's Park. Know anything about it?
Thanks!

This should be in a FAQ somewhere...

Pipeline Express is reportedly SBNO; it's at Putt 'N Pond Action Park in Fostoria, OH, it was constructed by Bailey out of Whitby, ON, and has single-passenger sleds running on PVC track attached to steel track ties, backbone, and supports. Some photos (actually video captures) from back when I rode the thing:

(Photos are at the old rec.roller-coaster FTP site at elvis.rowan.edu.)

I can't seem to access the ftp site. Can it be viewed with IE?

Anything on Vollmar's Park?
Thanks!
