Experience Deja Vu from the front seat in POV video

Posted | Contributed by Rick121

If you aren't able to visit Six Flags Magic Mountain's Deja Vu, but want to know what riders experience visually when they are on the ride, visit the "fun!" site and click news, then Deja Vu. There is a link on that page that will play a Real Video clip.

It looks fine! I am on a dial up and yes it jitters but I also looked at it on a DSL and it looks like watching TV! Very good!
And that my friends, is why Deja Vu has a 6'4 height limit.

I can't get the links to work either.  Did anybody do anything different to get them to work?

Number 1 Batwing Fan!

Just go to www.morefunonline.tv and find the interview. Everything is on the front page!
I just rode it yesterday, and thought it was insane, its unbelievable, awesome!!!!
I know you liked it! I loved it! Especially in the back...the front is just ok...(With the camera in the way of course)
The front was my favorite,  the back was cool because you get higher on the first tower but my pesonal fav is the front I rode it four times yesterday and it became my favorite ride !!!
Wow good video thank god i now have a  Cable conection. it was a good video but the girl was screaming too much! and i never heard a scream like that! its like a Growwling type scream. anywyas its ok becuase if its a good scream its a good ride! (unless its scream of pain)
Folks,

I figured out why the video works for some, and not for others. I just went to the page, and using Netscape 4.78, I got the following error message:
Not Found

The requested URL /rtsp://morefunonline.tv/morefu/DejaVuDSL.rm was not found on this server.

So, I was all set to post a message saying that the video clips did not work for me either...then I thought "Hey, maybe this is one of those weird things that will work in IE, and not in netscape?". So, I opened up IE version 5.50.4522.1800, with SP1 and guess what? The video worked great! By the way, I'm running RealPlayer 8 Basic (tm) (win32) Build 6.0.9.450 with a cable modem. I had no problems viewing the video, it was not choppy or anything. Of course, i am running a Pentinum II, 350 Mhz with 384 Megs of Ram under Windows 2000.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again....I have seen this problem MANY times before...some stuff just does not work right in Netscape, and will only work in IE. So, before everyone gets all mad that "these stupid links don't work right", try BOTH browsers. If you are still having problems, then you can start to complain. Of course, there are things that work in one version of a brower, that will not work in older ones, but I won't get into that! :-)

Sorry for that outburst, but I have seen this problem quite a few times on this board, and every time it happends, I mention this, and it appears that no one takes notice of it. I guess that's the programmer in me taking over. Again, sorry about that.

When I did watch the video, I did not have the sound on so I did not hear the annoying screem that everyone else was talking about. But, I must agree that the ride looks very intense, and I can't wait for the one at SFGAm to open.

...But as a programmer you can certainly appreciate that this is not operator error, but a problem with the software or its implementation. Rule one of Web design is that if it doesn't work, it's your fault. I for one won't use Real anymore, but if I did I'd properly implement it with metafiles and not direct links to the media files.

Jeff,

Point well taken. I agree that operator error was not a factor here, but the person who wrote the web page should have done it in a way that it could work with both browsers (like you mentioned about using metafiles).

I agree that I have seen more problems with Real format, and maybe the better solution would have been to use QuickTime or Mpeg formats.

Anyway, the video is really great, and I hope that the people that were not able to view them now have a way to see it.

She is a little loud but the videos were great! I just turn my volume down. And she even screams while going into the station! She was having fun!
I rode Deja Vu and personally I didn't like it. It lacked in the fun factor compared to many other rides that I have been on. The video was okay, but slow, and the woman (or girl, I couldn't tell which) was very loud and annoying. That ride isn't really worth screaming that loud. This might sound funny, but I like Boomerang at Knott's better (although they should change the seating style).
Hasn't anyone heard of turning down the sound? I don't know about your computer & sound setup but mine has a volume control. As soon as she started screaming....down went the volume.

Deja Vu  looks to be pretty fun.....X is the one I'm really waiting for.

It cracks me up though, that so many of you are now excited about Deja Vu when just a few weeks ago you were all trashing it...saying they should tear it down and stuff like that. Change our minds, did we?
