Also did anybody see the bird behind the peak of the mountain when the train was stopped at the ripped track?
Also, it's hard to see, but is there a projected image in the building on the lift hill? There's a lot to sound going on in there and the sun gets in the way of seeing what's in that building...
Don't get me wrong, the scenery around the ride and the overall theme of it come together to form a ride and surrounding experience that is quite literally breathtaking, arguably the most impressive themeing job in any park, anywhere. Take for instance the first turnaround point of the ride... if it weren't for the temperature, I would not doubt for a second upon stopping at that point that I was sitting at the crest of a mountain somewhere in the himalayas. Incredibly beautiful, detailed, cohesive scenery is just everywhere around the ride.
Still, I am completely convinced that we'll see more of the yeti (or perhaps see the beast for the first time) by the time the ride opens to the public. I would imagine him appearing either during the first turnaround scene at the mountain top, or somewhere in the pitch black segments of track. I'm sure it will be a great ride regardless, but I can't convince myself that all the talk of yeti yeilded such a "I'm really cool but oh... never seen ever" result.
We'll see I guess.
[edit: After taking a really close look at the second video... I'm doubting myself. At first viewing I thought the glimps you caught of the Yeti was maybe only its arm or teeth or something, but now I'm pretty sure the second appearance is the whole animatronic figure, so unless there's two of them, that may be the full extent of our actually encountering the yeti.] *** Edited 1/17/2006 6:31:55 AM UTC by BBSpeed26***

What I don't quite understand is why do they show the projection of the Yeti ripping the track after you go by the section he supposedly ripped up (right before the backwards section)? Wouldn't it have fit the story better to show it before?
Nah. It's a more suspenseful style of story telling.
Imagine a guest going in with a blank slate. No idea what to expect.
You reach the top, things start going and you're immediately met with mangled track. WTF!? What's going on here?
Suddely you lurch backward careening out of control through the darkness. You stop just long enough to catch a glimpse of a silhouette. Some sort of hideous beast is managling the track!
Again you suddenly lurch into the darkness. What's ahead? More mangled track? This beast?
After a wild ride down the mountain you encounter the beast and quickly make your safe escape.
The way I see it, that ordering of the scenes adds much more tension.
What strikes me as odd is the afroementioned lack of a finale with the Yeti. Hopefully the video doesn't quite show it all, but I don't see how.

I believe that is actually taken care of - I read that the inside is chilled, but I'm not sure of the accuracy of that information.
I also think that split-second glimpse of a yeti figure is indeed the blockbuster animatronic we have heard so much about. I also believe that the video doesn't do the creature justice, and that the sighting is much longer than it apears to be on film. Not a total waste of money, but still kind of disapointing at this point.
For those mentioning the resemblance of the Mummy with the backwards part an all, remember that the Mummy's backwards section is VERY short. EE aprears to have a much more interesting backwards section.
I will admit, I was not too interested in this one. I kept telling myself it couldn't beat the Mummy, and I'm not so sure that part of my opinion has changed, but I am more interested (not neccessarily excited and anticipated) in Everest than ever before.
Two more months 'till I can see for myself :)
I was VERY interested in this, but after seeing that video, I'm not nearly as interested.
I'll wait for the reviews. Orlando is in the future (next season or two) either way.
