Expedition Everest Coaster At Animal Kingdom

Maybe by forwards and backards they mean everyother car faces backwards. There are several mine trains like that.

...it's not a shuttle. expect that the large swooping drop on the right side of the photo be taken backward. it's closest to the midway.

I think those black squares with white dots are ancient tibetan tv monitors reminding riders to remain seated please. :)

It won't be like Matterhorn. Trust me. This won't feature 30 foot dinky drops. I've heard the drop size around 150 feet, not bad for a Disney coaster....

I'll take the DL Matterhorn over this thing.

Why I have a strange love for the DL Matterhorn, I'm not sure. :)

"How do you own disorder?"

Sorry, I chose to post before reading the article.(An obvious stupid mistake) Disregard what I posted earlier... I'll try to be a little more on the ball in the future.
I actually don't think that you'll take that drop backward. At first I did, the way the smoke was coming out of the smokestack. But look where the 'engine' of the train is on the train going up the lift. . .it's in back. . .maybe to make a subtle difference between this and Big Thunder? Look again. . .
Look at concept art at Intercot.com or WDWMagic.com
How can this be officilly announced with no ride manufacturer or stats?

It will be like the Matterhorn IN THEME, but the ride will be a whole lot different.

...because this is about the experience, not the height, or speed, or where the steel comes from.

Besides, as was already mentioned, it's coming from Vekoma.

"Forward and Backward".

If you think about the theme, an old style train ride, train coaches ussually have benches facing both forward and backward. I believe this may be what they mean by "hurling riders forward and backward". Don't read too much into it.

Looks like an amazing ride. I hope they pull it off. :)

Animal Kingdom needs a new coaster. The spinning coaster they have now stinks.
Why don't Disney built a Indian Jones Themed Coaster at Animal Kingdom(Like the one at Disneyland Paris)
Coke Cool:

The Indiana Jones Idea is cool...but it would fit more in at MGM since they already have a Indiana Jones stunt show there. They could put it somewhere around it. I think MGM needs another coaster. EPCOT needs some other type of thrill/fast paced ride besides TT.

Fly with the man of steel in '03 at SFGAM :)

...wouldn't Mission: Space qualify as fast-paced?

I don't know. I kind of like the parks how they are, more or less. Of course, new attractions are great, but I'd really be much, much, much happier to see some that harkens back to the classic attractions - slow paced, immersive, and story-driven. I can stay closer to home to ride coasters that are likely much, much more exciting than what I can find at Disney's parks.
