Evidence suggests another roller coaster is coming to SeaWorld Orlando

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

SeaWorld Orlando still has plenty of work to do on Ice Breaker, its new coaster set to debut later this year, but the park is already developing plans for another big project. Permits filed with Orange County confirm a large project is in the works for the park’s Bayside Pathway, with rumors pointing to another custom-built signature coaster.

Pretty good investigative reporting (or at least connecting-the-dots speculation) Orlando Weekly.

Yeah, this isn't the first time that they've done something like this. I give them a lot of credit for the general depth of their reporting despite their size and resources.

If this is true, the Busch/Sea World parks are really hammering the CapEx. I know someone around here has said that jacking up prices without new offerings was part of the problem.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

All the investigative reporting was done by Coaster Kings. Orlando Weekly just took that and added some additional "insider knowledge" (read: speculation) that Lance Hart had posted on Screamscape.

The permit is for "site work" so it's a bit premature to assume this means a big new coaster is coming in 2021. However, given SeaWorld's current building spree and the size of the area, a new coaster would not be all that surprising either.

Probably me. I don't think that Blackfish was the big mover a few years ago. Having just moved here, I could see this massive investment at Disney and Universal, while SeaWorld raised prices to match but added the Whirling Hockey Pucks For Penguins ride and nothing else. If you're going to decide where to spend your money, it wasn't hard math to do. For us, even Legoland and Fun Spots were offering more new stuff.

Whirling Hockey Pucks (giggle)

That was a fairly awful ride, not at all living up to it’s potential.

Yeah, especially now that Disney is going to open 3 high quality trackless rides in less then a year. Antarctica looks so bad.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

I was way more impressed with the super-lifelike animatronic penguins than the trackless vehicles. I was trying to see how long before the program would repeat it it never did. Disney wishes they could make something so realistic. *cough*Yeti*cough*

But then again, what do I know?

Since they folded and said no more live action animal shows after a while. They need to build up the roster of rides to stand out from the competition and get guest to choose them .
