Everest opens April 7 at Disney's Animal Kingdom

I have friends who rode it last week so how does it open april 7?

To date they've only had a "soft opening," meaning the ride is testing with guests but there's no promise that it will be open or even that you'll get the full experience.

I must say. I found it a ver good ride. Like rc-madness said. The most intense low intensity coaster. I remember standing outside the ride line, and getting on in about 10-15 minutes. Very effiecent!

I must be the only person who wasn't overly impressed. The theming is beyond incredible, and the queue is perfectly done, but the ride itself was yawn-worthy and didn't make a whole lot of sense.

The theming on the ride is incredible, and the ride itself is pretty good. ALl together, its an extremly solid attraction that Disney should be proud of. Its the one ride where I like waiting in line for because the que line is jsut that well done.

It definatly will bring many people throught the gates. From my experience from July of last year and March of this year I've noticed a large increace in guest. Animal Kingdom appears to be a cool park, but personaly I have never been outside of Asia and Dinoland USA to ride the coasters.

Mummy still tops it. In every aspect.

Not if they don't fix the first scene.

I agree that the Mummy is a far superior attraction. What's wrong with the first scene?

Not sure if this is what Jeff is talking about or not, but I just rode Revenge of the Mummy last week and the only thing I could figure out was that the mummified character (Brendan Fraser? I skipped the main line to use the singles line so I missed the pre-show) resets rather quickly. You're still riding past him and then he just shuts off after the Mummy speaks. Maybe it's something else, but that's my guess. Jurassic Park River Adventure at IOA has the same thing happen with the first dinosaur that pops up.

On topic, Everest totally rocked, even in soft open mode. The Yeti is truly one of the greatest animatronics characters you'll ever see, even if it is for only a few seconds. With this and Soarin' at Epcot (which had a 120+ minute standby line), WDW has got some hot attractions on their hands.

No, what he means is there is a mummy that jumps out at you, but when it's not functioning, it's just a projection of a face. Last Wednesday: not working, Friday: working, and Sunday: not working.

Still a better ride even without.

I missed the Yeti. Stupid thing was stuck in B mode. Is there any video that shows the Yeti in action? Florida is so far away.

No, it's more than that. The animatronic mummy appears and he sucks the "soul" out of the production assistant wrapped up in bandages. It's quite a dramatic effect.

Crap. Now I have to go back to see that.

I've ridden the Mummy at least twenty times on several different visits, and the first scene has worked perfectly every time but one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I have no idea if the Yeti animatronic compares to the Imhotep animatronic. I suppose it could, but that's hard to judge from two seconds compared to about fifteen.

Yeah, the Yeti is big, and yeah he looks pretty good, but he's like an oversized teddy bear. How can that scare anyone?
