Ever Ridden One of These Babies???

There was a ride similar to that at Timber Falls in Wisconsin Dells, but I passed it up because of the extreme height and its placement on top of a very large hill. I'm not really afraid of heights, but when I'm not in a big building, it's pretty unnerving. I wish now I would have rode it, I need some more fear-factor in my life because coasters just really aren't as scary as they once were to me.

Mildly amused since 2003.
I have been on one of those.

I had heard a lot of things about it and expected to have my socks blown off, but it wasn't all it was hyped to be. Maybe it was just the one I went on. They loaded us, we went 3 times, they stopped at the top so they could load 2 more people, went 3 more times, and we were done.

Eh, it was a lot of fun, but not worth a lot of the prices being charged for them.

I remember they had a Skyscraper at Six Flags Fiesta Texas back in 2002 (is it still there?).

Dorney revoved their Skyscraper and I think it's at Worlds of Fun or Valleyfair now.

Well, unless it shows up this season at WOF, it ISN'T here.....

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
Yep, one at Dorney (2004), the other at SFFT (2001). Nice view from the top but over-all, not all that thrilling. Hardly worth the $5.00 upcharge I paid both times.

I rode the one at the mini-golf place in Orlando. It rocked my world. Sadly the ride is gone now...it wasn't permanent, only temporary.

edit - the ride's name was Katanga. Thanks, Gator! ;)

The one at Dorney Park was moved to Valleyfair!

It is currently residing in the Wild Thing turnaround.

I can't wait to ride it this season!

Can't say I've ever ridden a baby. I'd think the saddle would be too big.
Tisk tisk tisk.. *shakes head and walks away* :)

i'm not sure what to put here..

Remind me not to ride with you either, Lori. LOL! I have sensitive ears. :-)

I have only been on the one at Dorney, and yes, I LOVED it!

Robert, you need to take the exclimation point out of your sentence. You see, Dorney Park no longer has the Skyscraper It got transfered to another Cedar Fair property (Valley Fair or Worlds of Fun). Razore86, he said it was $20 for two people. Now it sounds like a better deal, doesn't it? I loved the Skyscraper. It scared the hell out of me. The Zamperla Turbo Force which is basically the same ride, except with back to back seating, is equally as thrilling. I've ridden that three times. Some of the ride motions are very unsettling, such as when you come over the top and your seat starts turning towards the ground. The wait at the top while the other seats are loading can be agonizing also due to the height. I remember they had a Skyscraper at Six Flags Fiesta Texas back in 2002 (is it still there?).

Yes it is still here and it is very fun and fast. Now it is permanent. It is awesome/

Rode one last year at Virginia Beach. Three words sum it up for me: Insane, addictive, and re-ride

I, for one, can't wait for the Italian Job to open...looks awesome to me!

To each his own razore86, but I think like a Skycoaster, the experience can not be explained. You just have to ride it to understand it. I worked at a 100ft. Skycoaster at SFA during the 2003 summer/fall season, and it was a lot of fun scaring the crap out of people. I mainly did flight-suiting, which I mostly preferred to being out in the drop area. The most common question I would get would be "Is this safe", which I think I would have asked before I signed up. I did however find it fun when people would fall forward onto the bar and scream (since SFA doesn't have the traditional scissors lift). That's how I knew someone was really nervous.

For as expensive as it is, there was rarely any downtime. I've only gotten to ride one twice--once during a promotion in the fall in 2001 with Sam Marks and friend, and at the employee party in 2003. The girl I rode with was shaking the whole way up. I probably wasn't doing much better since it was at night. SFA's Skycoaster has an additional fear factor to it, if you will. You see, there's this rod-iron fence with the Batman logo sticking up all along the fence that comes up really quick when you drop. In your mind you're going "Please slack pick up, pick up, PICK UP!" *** Edited 4/9/2005 3:48:40 AM UTC by Intamin Fan***

Katunga in Orlando was amazing. I couldn't stop laughing and screaming.

2 Emotions in one--Cool, I can't wait for another opportunity to ride one with more capacity. It would be fun seeing all the people screaming like on a top spin or something.

I have this inborn resistance to paying extra for any rides once I buy a park admission ticket. Must be the East European genes.

Inevitably, someday I'll walk away empty-handed from concession stands muttering "I could make a huge pot of soup for what they charge for one hot dog."

That's funny RGB. I too feel resistant, but some of the experiences are quite unique and therefore, I feel they must be experienced (well, not all of them. The ejector seat still scares the crap out of me, but I did ride the "tamer" S&S version at SFGAdv. in 2003). I've been lucky to get some "bargains" on some of the upcharges due to discount pricing. Just think, it's one less t-shirt that you would otherwise buy.
I know i'm bringin back old posts but yeah i would ride it, it looks like a lot of fun.
There's a Fabbri model in Powerpark, Finland. It's interesting to see what they'll do this year when they get armbands. It was 3 euros per ride last year and I'm guessing it'll cost the same this year as well. Capacity would be abysmal if they tried to include it in the armbands.

Still, it's considerably cheaper than the other versions of the ride I've seen at fairs and such.
