European Trip in March

In March, I will be in Europe for a little over two weeks. I am from the U.S., but will be visiting a friend in Amsterdam. It will my first European trip.

Anyway, I was just curious if any of the parks are open besides Disneyland Paris. I plan on going there, but wouldn't mind hitting a few other parks as well. I was hoping to hit Six Flags Holland, or maybe even Six Flags Vekomaland (Belgium), but their 2003 schedule isn't on their websight yet. Well, I will be all over the place as we plan on seeing and doing everything. Anyway, any suggestions about what parks might be open, or just any general suggestions? Thanks.

I know SFH opens somewhere in april... bad luck. I don't know about SFB, but because it isn't far away and the weather is the same, i guess it opens together with SFH
Have fun in Amsterdam!

Well, I can advice you not to take the train, and don't immediately hit the coffeeshops when you get to Amsterdam. :)

Some general tips are the Rijksmuseum which features some of Rembrand's and Van Gogh's finest pieces of work. The Anne Frank house is very impressive too. Madama Tussaud's isn't that great, but if you're there only once, you might as well go there!

But let's get to the parks. :) I don't know if you prefer theming or the hard action, so I'll give you advice on both. But first, opening hours!

Six Flags Belgium - the worst theme park ever built - will open around April 7th. Six Flags Holland will open around April 1st, but I'm not sure about this. De Efteling - one of the worlds most beautifull theme parks - will open April 1st.

Perhaps you can plan a visit to Burger's Zoo, a zoo which has built a huge indoor section with a rain forest, a desert and an ocean. Really worth a visit.

You might even want to go to a fair, but the 2003 schedule hasn't been made public yet.

All in all, the real action doesn't start untill April. I guess you'll be gone by then. If you really want to go to a Dutch theme park, you can also visit Toverland, a small time indoor playground with a fancy Vekoma roller skater. Open 365 days a year! :)

If you want any further advice, just ask. I'm a local, so I can answer most of your questions.

Bakken (worlds oldest amusementpark) open on March 27th & Legoland Billund (the original) was open in March this year so I guess they'll be open.
Cool. Thanks guys. I leave to come back to the States on March 20th. So yeah, coaster-wise, that sucks! I am just glad to be going though. Is Blackpool Pleasure Beach open on weekends? That is what I heard somewhere. I plan on spending about three days of the trip over in the U.K. I wouldn't mind taking a trip to that place.......
Hi, I'm in Manchester NW UK, about an hour from Blackpool and 1.5 from Alton. BPB does open weekemds only for the early & late parts of the season (had last ride of the year on the Big One last 11/24!) Alton Towers opens mid march-so if you can leave the UK till the later part of your trip I'll be at the parks anyway & happy to show you around...!

I know Parc Asterix opens at the end of March, I was there last year on opening day, Sat. March 30? or was it the 31st.

I think that I checked Alton Towers sight and it said that they are not opening until like April 5th this year. I'm all about a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach though. If it is open on weekends, I will definitely make it there. How far is Blackpool from London?

Hopefully Parc Asterix opens a little earlier this year! ;)

Thanks for the offer Colin, maybe we could meet up at BPB or something.
