Europa Park releases details of B&M hyper

Posted | Contributed by RagingBull

German theme park visitors will have more cause for celebration in 2002. Hot on the heels of Holiday Park's Expedition GeForce and Heide Park's Colossos, Europa Park has announced Silver Star, a B&M speed coaster. Towering 240 feet above the ground, the ride will feature a 230 foot, 70º drop, speeds of 80 mph, a total length of 5315 feet, and, of course, plenty of airtime. Read the press release, in German, at Europa Park's website.

oh, sorry about that everybody

hmm..The ride looks good...but, i have heard many people say that nitro is the best hyper by b+m and i personally think that s:ros at sfdl is better then it. Just my opinion.

"who needs drugs when you have coasters...they're like a natural high"
Interesting question here.

At the start of this thread, RagingBull said "Towering 240 feet above the ground, the ride will feature a 230 foot, 70º drop...".

But, if you follow the link that Taipan posted, the page notes that the Max height is 229 ft (70m), with a first drop of 210ft at 68°.
They both have the same distance for the length of the ride at 5315ft.

I was just wondering which one is correct, and why is there a difference?

Okay gang, my German's a little rusty, but here goes.....

BANNER:
"Er kommt" - "2002" - "Der hochste hypercoaster Europas" translates as "It's coming" - "2002" - "The highest hypercoaster in Europe"

INTERESTING HIGHLIGHTS
Aside from the usual PR speak about thrills and fun and adrenaline, blah, blah, blah is this tidbit. A major corporate sponsor is Mercedes-Benz. The ride will apparently be themed towards Formula1 racing, with input from the Mercedes/McClaren F1 team.
For those of you who don't know Mercedes-Benz history, some of their famous pre-war cars had "Silver" in their names, thus the tie to "Silver Streak". I wouldn't be surprised if the trains had little three-pointed stars all over 'em. ;-)

All that I can say is "How much is that plane ticket again????"

P.S. "Dutch" is what Americans call people from the Netherlands. "Deutsch" is what Germans call themselves. I ought to know, being half "Dutch" myself

I'm verry happy to be a "hollander"(people who live in the netherlands) Everey year more big coasters come to my area!!!
Germany is just 80 miles away from me!!!
Hey SFMM04-

Don't give us a bad reputation. I'm a teenager, and can take the time to tap my fingers two extra times on the keys. If your opinion is important enough to take the time to reply, why would you lower how people think of you by doing something so simple?

Geesh, I don't understand some kids.

Brian-

I got my stats from the press release, but I don't speak German, so I was just guessing as to what they meant.

"Mit 73 Metern Höhe, einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 130 km/h und enormen... Bis zu 36 Personen (9x4) werden in einem der drei Rennzüge per Lift auf über 70 Meter nach oben gezogen, um dann im ersten Drop von ca. 70° Grad schwerelos, scheinbar im freien Fall... "

I took that to mean 73 meters high (~240 feet), with a 70 meter (~230 feet), 70º drop.

"With 73 meters height, a maximum speed of up to 130 km/h and enormous... Up to 36 persons (9x4) in one of the three running courses by elevator on over 70 meters are pulled upward, around then in the first drop of approx. 70° degrees weightlessly, apparently in the free fall..."
