Europa Park

Hey,

I'm gonna be near Germany on my next visit to Europe, and I was wondering if Europa Park was worth a day trip? Can anyone help?

Definitely!

It's a park completely geared towards families though - no big thrills, even "Europe's Tallest Roller Coaster" aka Silverstar is wearing a family-friendly face (though I've heard some people being terrified of the first drop).

The question is always: If everbody thinks that weekends are terribly crowded in Europapark, will everybody NOT go on the weekend making them actually LESS crowded?
Or is it all a myth?

Due to its proximity to Switzerland and France the park is ALWAYS crowded even on weekdays(attendance equals Cedar Point). Saturdays are said to be hell, while Sundays are alledgedly indeed not too bad.
A one day trip can be short though. Sadly the german parks mostly close between 6 to 8 pm!

Be early and head straight to the custom wild mouse and afterwards to Poseidon, the water coaster. Both rides tend to have enormous lines during the day. Then you should do the Bobsled coaster. All other rides have phenomenal capacity with fast moving lines.

Make sure not to miss the two Disney rip-off darkrides (Pirates of Batavia and the Haunted Castle) and check out the log-flume and the powered coaster, they offer some nice surprises inside a fake mountain.

If you would rather spend one day riding Expedition Ge Force you should do Holiday Park instead :)

Two words for ya Canadian Dude.

Euro-Mir

I don't know if it was the group I was with or not, but I found Euro-Mir to be the most fun coaster I have ridden. It's isn't the most extreme by any stretch, but it is a very unique ride that deserves many rides.

If you click the link below, you can read a trip report I did a couple of years back.
