Euro Disney considering Tower of Terror

Just hope it's not like the DCA version...

The ride is popular so I don't blame them. It would have been neat to have something unique like an Eiffel Tower of Terror. They could have T-Shirts that say, "I fell from Eiffel"...although it might not have the same effect in French. ;)

The Studios park is going to need a lot more than a Tower of Terror clone to become a decent park.

Just out of curiousity what's wrong with the DCA version? I live on the west coast and was looking forward to this ride someday.

So much was cut from the original WDW version to build it.

Having not experienced the Florida version, I thought the DCA ToT was fun. I was hoping for more of a sense of height though. The psychedelic effects are cool. And quite a few of us feel the opposite Moosh.

The Florida ride system is to me, much more interesting. Not just with the random drops and visuals, but also in the way the elevator can turn at the end of the ride. The west coast version rushes you through, is too linear for me and (as of yet) has no randomness to it. If Florida had some of the advanced effects of DCA, and if DCA had the randomness of Florida then they would be more equal but I would still prefer Florida. Even the outdoor queue is better there.

BTW...the Disney Studio has had a spot staked out for this ride (and even partially themed) for quite awhile. Although I agree, building Tower there while helpful, will not be the solution to that park's problems. It would need about TEN attractions added. And of the E ticket variety, not Aladdin Magic Carpet variety.

I always felt that the "fifth dimension" room was where WDW's ToT was weakest. The DCA tower eliminates that and adds a new effect. I think they're both great rides and seeing another added to Paris would be nice -- whichever version it is.

That said, of course I'd prefer something comparable that's not a clone.

The article said, "It will either be the Tower of Terror or three smaller attractions." At $180m for the whole lot, we're not talking anything petty, like the choice between a coaster or a few flat rides as your average park would. Three $60m rides would surely be a bigger draw, especially if opened over the course of two years or so. That sort of money still gets rides like Soarin', Mission: Space and other Disney "biggies" and I'd have thought that three or more smaller rides (of course only smaller in comparison to TOT) would be a more long-term solution to the problems that this new park has been having.

Surely holiday-makers don't really care what it is so long as it's a quality attraction that's dragging them there. I'd personally rate most of the "cheaper" Disney attractions ahead of TOT anyway. You can still market the hell out of a Soarin' or Mission: Space clone you know.

All I can add to the MGM vs. DCA debate is that I thought that MGM's was a fantastic ride. I've not ridden DCA's but I don't think it looks anywhere near as nice on the outside.
