Enthusiast Teachers

I find myself lucky to have an enthusiast (or maybe semi-enthusiest) teacher. I was amazed one day when he knew SFOT was the first SF. And he grew up on the East coast...

When he gives examples for assignments many of his examples are roller coaster related.

Today he told us a great story I'd like to share with you all:

It was the Summer of '87 his [my teacher's] son said "I think I'm tall enough to ride Shockwave" So they took their season passes and went to SFGAm. His son was tall enough like he thought and he got on the ride and had so much fun he did it again and the went home.

This was an example for an assignment and many of his examples are roller coaster related.

Does anyone care? How is that story great? Are you in 2nd grade? Also I hope this topic gets closed.

I removed the story but i just wanted to know if anyone has enthusiast teachers!

(Please remove the story from your quote because it is terrible! Or at least when i tell it)

badness? opologized? You really are in second grade.

This is a message from don corleone it says lucabratzi sleeps with the fishes.

Geez guys! Get a life, he's just telling his story! What did he do to deserve this flaming?! It really makes me wonder how old YOU all are!!! Can you point out to me what he actually said that offended you?

2Hostyl, I know you post a lot here at CB, I admire and respect your knowledge about coasters and usually share the same opinions as you, but this time I just have to say that sometimes you tend to ventilate your opinion in a way that's offending to people. You don't need to care about me or what I said, I just hope you do something with it.

Coaster Sam, I don't know you at all and frankly after reading what you posted, my desire to know you is minimal. Judging from the way you write and what you write, I tend to think YOU're the second grader here!
I really don't care if you reply to what I said, I'm going to ignore it anyway. Just remember that I'm probably not the only one who thinks this way about you. Improve your social skills, you'll make more friends in life.

Swimmerkev, back in highschool (best comparison for what we have here in Holland) I also happened to have a physics teacher who's assignments were related to coasters many times. Actually it got me interested in kinetics and such, and I think I passed my exams because of it. Good luck at school!

PS once you get to know me, i'm actually a very nice guy... :)

Honestly, I was just beeing an @ssh0le to be an @ssh0le, I didnt think anyone would take me seriously, let alone co-sign with me. Obviously, we dont have very many Ghostbusters2 fans here.

swimmerkev, please accept my apologies. I was just having a bit of a gufaw at your expense. The story actually wasnt bad at all. You should never back down just because of what someone else said.

--who really *doesnt* care what people think of him or his writings, but is flattered that peopl pay that much attention

Why all of the hostility? Geeesh.

I had an English teacher in HS who liked rock music. I was very fond of him. He always incorperated a lot of the students interests into the assignments. Not really coaster related but on topic non-the-less. I did once write a screenplay in his class about a haunted theme park.

But seriously folks, I respect the opinions of yall who don't like the thing, but if MF were human, I'd marry it.

Well, I had an oppinion to state that was different from the original poster's he claimed the story was great when it was inactuality very boring and pointless. IMO Since then he has deleted the story. Which is good. But still I yet to see the point of this post.

edit: Also when he originally posted the topic he did not ask anything or say anything of great importance, he just talked about his teacher. That's why I flamed him. But since then he edited the topic so it posed a question and he deleted the story.

Then don't post Einstein. Obviously the mods see no problem with it so why bother your pretty little head. Anyway, I was never lucky enough to have an enthusiast teacher. Mine found me eccentric when most of my science projects were about coasters!

I have an enthusiat English teacher. He is cool and he even sponsors a school Roller Coaster Club with me and my best friend being President and Vice-President. We plan on going to CP next year and also maybe even PKI.

Got Coasters?

And the responses to this thread perfectly illustrate why I try to avoid visiting CBuzz...
I think I can one-up you guys. Not only is my wife a school teacher/enthusiast, but we were personally asked to visit a school and teach a class to 3-5th graders about the ultimate subject, amusement parks & rollercoasters. They listened to our presentation and then had to design a theme park of their own.
I think I was more amazed about how much the students already knew before I was even there. Several students' knowledge of coasters surpasted my wife's and boardered on my own. Those same students knew of several obscure parks that many of the members of the club I am editor for have never seen.
Even their usual teachers were amazed by them, but they were amazed by us even more. They never imagined how much information there is about the amusement business and industry.
To me, it's just part of my job.

On the first day of my Calculus 1 class, each of us had to say our name and something interesting about ourselves. My interesting thing was that I really like roller coasters, upon which my teacher (who is from southern Ohio [I think]) asked if I'd ever been to PKI. I said no, but I went to CP this year. Don't start flaming my teacher (or me, because I don't remember this exactly), but I think he then said that PKI was better than CP. I replied that CP had been pretty good, to which he said that CP probably is better now.
