Entering the Xcelerator Que

One has to wonder why they make the seats so that people in the USA (who tend to be a tad over-weight on average) can't ride. Some seats don't work for tall people either. It really seems to me that they could do a better job of seat-design.

Well I'm tall (6'4") and I have yet to have any problem with being cramped on a ride. As for the horozontally gifted people who can not fit on the ride, perhaps this would be enough initative to go out and do something about that problem. Yes I know that sounds mean and not very "PC", but I feel that instead of whining about it, you can do something about it. It's amazing what a little bit of (gasp) exercise can do if you do it each day. I'm sorry but I have no remorse for people who live a complete sedintary life and then complain because they can not fit on a ride. I know that I will get flamed for this, but to me this is how it is.

On July 2nd, PP's cycle time was averaging 15 mins....At the time, only 2 boats were retrofitted. So I can see why the cycle times are still near 10 mins.

Also, XC's cycle time was around 7 mins.. the main issue is people pulling their own lapbar down....WATCH THE VIDEO IN THE QUEUE PEOPLE!!! It tells you NOT to pull your lapbar down along with showing you Badnitrus' cool POV animation. I told the Knotts people they need to place a roving employee in the queue reminding people NOT to pull the lapbar down. Maybe they will wise up and do it. They are checking the seatbelts and tightening them up that is why they are pulling the lapbars for you... gotta love OSHA.....

Also, they need to open the line up a bit at the entrance.. Coker and I went on school day and we had to wait behind a gaggle of kids.. ALL being measured! They need to move all of the measuring/seat stuff a little to the left of the entrance and add another person to direct people who fit the requirements easily through faster...

Hey Swoosh, have you tried to fit in the front row of the Premier lapbar launchers yet? the front row of each car has some unecessary steel boxes in it.. I felt like I was in a Yugo!!

Well I rode both of the Freezes (STL & DALLAS) with the lapbars only and then FOF at PKI, they all have that weird thing on the floorboard. I have yet to figure out what it is for. I do know that it makes you have your feet in an awkward position. Other than that, I have no problem. :)

Well, this is contrary to any other coaster in the world I think, so after years of "training" people to put their bars down on other rides what does Knott's expect? It's not the people that are the problem, it is Knott's backwards operation of this ride that is the real problem.

Having just got back from Europe it is even more of an eye opener to see rides there dispatched with OTSR's still open and rarely on any ride was any lapbar checked. The only places where they were really checked were at Disney and on Intamin rides like Expedition Geforce and Goliath. But even then you could push down your own bar, and stapling was kept to a minimum and they were very polite. And yet, there aren't all these people falling out of rides in those places, nor is there any worry about it. Gotta love Europe!

PP's cycle time is never 15 minutes. Try 4. And Xcelerator's Cycle time is not 7 minutes! Try 2! Anyways, the line is always under 30 minutes. They rarely recheck lapbars anymore, and you will be warned like 10 times (including personal comments) to not pull down your lap bar. As the day goes on and more riders are repeats there is are absolutely no rechecks.

As much as I would've loved to tell you about the stapling on Xcelrerator, I can't. Because it was closed when we were there about 2 weeks ago. Sorta sucks too cause as you can tell and I had been waiting for both X and Xcelerator for awhile.

Well besides that, I will say that PP's loading cycle was hell. It's not really anybodys fault either except the new restraint system. Knotts had atleast around 10 ops on the ride when I was there, maybe even more.

Ghostie was not bad at all though, some of you say they checked each restraint twice? Alright well, I had heard they stapled on this ride, and they barely even touched mine. But they knew what they were doing.

Knott's, Cedar Point, and Busch Gardens are my 3 favorite places for friendly employees. Don't dis Knott's either, for all of you who missed out on both X and Xcelerator, well so did I and I had the time of my frickin life!!

Top 5:
5)Raptor 4) Goliath 3) Ghostrider 2) Sros @Sfdl 1) Millennium Force
Check Out My Site: www.geocities.com/coastingohio

Agreed that they don't move your lap bar on Ghostrider one notch unless it's 1 or 2 click (and even then they'll just lower it 2 clicks or so). There are 11 ride ops on Perilous Plunge usually, and 11 or 12 on Xcelerator. Only 5 on ghostrider though. They should put 10 there too and run all 3 trains again (something that could never be done with just 2 slow ride ops).

Its worth mentioing that as of late, Xcelerator's dispatch times have been improving. The last few times I was there, very few people tried to put down their own lapbars. That seriously kills dispactch times.

Not to mention the fact that they have 6 ride ops in the station. I can tell you that Xcelerator gets better capacity that Ghostrider does (and it should)!

-----------------
Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

If Xcelerator had a longer train (ie 24 or 28 passengers), the capacity would be excellent. Probably a walkon any weekday even during the summer. Even 1 train was getting good capacity back near opening, and 2 trains is even better, although there is a minor delay (about a 6 second delay) that could easily be fixed. The 2nd train cannot be let into the station until the 1st train clears the top hat (incase of a rollback). The train is released back into the station manually from the back control booth (the purple one), but he ride op there cannot see when the train is through the top hat until it gets to the overbank. If they would install a camera or mirror on the side of the booth, they could press the button to let train 2 into the station at the second the 1st train goes over the peak of the top hat. It would be well worth the 400 or so bucks it would cost (for a camera) as it would increase capacity by about 50pph.

Ghostrider has no excuse to stack, Xcelerator does. Still, disbatch times on Xcelerator have been very good, the lines have been short (in comparison to Ghostrider, like Wicked Twister and Millenium Force), and the line has been moving quickly. Once the palm trees and other plants grow taller (palm trees take forever to grow), the queue will be partly shaded.

I think that not allowing people to pull down their own lapbar saves time because the seat belts would be harder to check covered by a lapbar, and there wouldn't be 6 ride attendents. They will get to you to put on your restraints very quickly. I've seen them disbatcha train in less than 70 seconds from when it entered the station. There are so many ride ops for so little seats (each ride op checks 3.3 restraints) that a recheck doesn't even take long when it occurs. There is also a high paid executive in the station (or 2) to help ride ops by collecting loose articles and keeping them moving.

Does Xcelerator still have its max. height limit of 6'2"? If so, how is it enforced? Thanks!
There is no height limit! The park map states that guests over 6'2" MAY not fit on certain rides. They never said 6'2" on Xcelerator. But, they won't let you ride if your head does not make contact with the Headrest above the neck. This is applicable for some over 6'4", but not all. You will be measured before enterin the queue in the test seat. The ride ops do not have a 6'2" stick to measure you.

I have not heard of any riders, nor seen any riders, be tured away due to their tall height.
