Endless Debate

Hey guys-
I don't know if this was ever settled:
What is Superman the Escape/Intamin Reverse Freefalls -I think that is the correct term- classified as? Are they coasters or just freefalls? Personally, any amusement ride with interlocking wheels, and a car that travels on a track is classified as a rollercoaster.

Please... let's not go there. It's a very tired debate. I'm sure it's a cool ride, and I hope to ride it one day, but it just isn't the same as a complete circuit coaster with tons-o-elements.
We included it in the database, but it's up to you to decide if you want to include it in your track record.

Although I have never been on this ride but I have seen pictures and it seems to me that it is a coaster. If you want to go with the fact that it is not a complete circuit coaster than how do we explain "MR FREEZE" and the shuttle loop coasters such as Viper at Six Flags Georgia. They go forward to the end of the track and then repeat it in reverse. It is the same concept with Superman except no loops.

I think the reasoning is that S:TE is very much a one trick pony. You go up, you go down. Mr. Freeze, boomerangs and shuttle loops have several elements to them, and that's why most people will consider them true coasters.

But alas... let's just let it go.

I guess you can say it's a roller coaster, but to me it's more like a thrill ride. I doesn't have a chainlift, it only has one train, and it goes foward, up, and down. Still must be an awesome ride.
