Bryon Betts, who built Enchanted Village Family Entertainment Park in 1977 and Wild Waves Water Park in 1984, died Tuesday at his home in Redondo. He was 77. When he decided to build the park, bankers told him the idea of an amusement park in the rainy Puget Sound area was financially impossible. He sold the park to real estate investors in 1992 which in turn sold the park to Six Flags in 2000.

I appreciate him sticking to his guns, and am glad he proved the bankers wrong. May his legacy continue to bloom.

Mr Betts, thank you. Rest in Peace.
