Empty parks! Your best advice for when to find em?

Another time I've noticed is good is the last week of August because most of the kids are back in school. Granted not all the parks are open during the week that week, but if they are open, they usually tend to be pretty dead.
Yup. The last week of August has even been nicknamed "Dead Week"... Thanks to Lori for reminding me about that :)

That's is true Greg, I went to Kennywood the last week of augest I think it was a tuesday, can't remember but anyway most of the rides were walk ons! Some of the schools are going to school the last week of augest. When I went to Kennywood it was the two free last days of summer that I had left before I had to go back!!!!!!!NO!!!!! Wait I only have 17 more days left!!

I assume you mean *IS* instead of *I*

And by the way, from what I hear, it is pretty crowded.

Cedar Point on July 5th is like a Ghost Town.
Really... I wouldn't have figured CP would ever have really light crowds enough to call it Ghost Town.
When it's 50 degrees out and raining.

I went on July 5th the past three years. And Since Millennium Force opened when I go that day I get around 10 laps on it a day. Its a 10-20 minute wait and The same for Raptor and everything else has like 5 minute lines. The reason for this is probally because a lot of people come for the 4th and everyon4 is wasted the next day.

Try Lake Compounce or Funtown Splashtown U.S.A in eraly June. We're out of school, but Maine and Conneticut aren't. Try it, you'll find 20 people aat Lake Compounce MAX!!! I do this every year, last time I got 18 walk ons for Boulder Dash and rode Zoomerang three consecutive tines(that's right, train don't stop, you just fly back through the staion for another ride. Why? Because I was the only one that was in line for the ride for that rusty boomerang for an hour!)

Try Gay Day at Disney California Adventure and Paramount Great America. The general public tries to avoid going on those days, but you what? They're just being stubborn, it doesn't matter who's at the park it's what at the park, COASTERS!!! I just tell them to suit theirselves and go off to a rather empty park and day of short lines where they also give free food and drinks sometimes for this ocassion.

Is May 24th a good day to go to SFNE, because that's when i'm planning to go there. May 24th is on friday during the pre memorial weekend.

No!!! No!!! No!!! They got vacations(3-4 day) in New Hampshire, Vermont, and parts of Western Mass. Best time to go is the first 2 weeks of June becuase the all of New England is in school longer than the rest of the country. A lot of school will be getting out between June 17 and 21.

Don't fall into the Memorial day being empty scheme. SFGAM was packed ( over flow parking) last year for Memorial day. If your going to get your season pass processed that day I would wait another day. The line was all the way out to Southwest Territory last year for processing season passes.
At my home park, I have found that friday afternoons in MID-September are great! No one is there because parents are in work and the kids are back in school. The great part is they still have their foreign and college employees working, so all the rides are in operation. Crowds are very, very low and msot rides are walk-ons. Also, weekdays in early June are fanatastic. Everyone has gotten their pass processed by then, and the college and foreign employees, again, are there, so all rides are open. Kids are still in school, so crwods are low. Somehow, opening weekend is always much more crowded than these days...

Make it to SFNE for S:Ros and BDK!!!!

Super Bowl Sunday in Orlando. I was down there for work-related reasons two years in a row. I hit Epcot the first year and IOA the second, and each time the parks were empty. Everything was essentially a walk-on. Fantastic!

Were you at the same SFGAm I was at on Memorial Day last year? I got my pass processed there that day last year and only waited about 10 minutes. Most of the rides were walkons except for V2 which had a three hour line most of the day. The longest line I personally waited in that day was for Iron Wolf and I waited all of about 20 minutes.

Gotta agree with you there Greg....funny, I seem to visit empty FL parks all the time....hoping to have BGT all to ourselves this afternoon/tomorrow - last nite was pretty clear at IoA, the wait time signs had Spidey at 20 mins, DD/Doom at 10, Hulk at 0...:). All in the timing, NEVER go on Saturdays.....
