Empty park?

Last year I went to six flags St. Louis in June on a weekday. I qwas there for two hours in the afternoon and rode the Boss 3 times, the Screamin eagle 5 straight times, Mr freeze 2 times, the Mine Train once, Batman 2 times and Ninja 4 straight times. I also rode some small rides and did the go karts (this duration of the kart race was for 20 minutes). The funny thing was it was a fairly large sized crowd. I guess they were all at the waterpark.

The park wasn't empty by any means, but not full either. Thankfully, at Big Chief's, most of the crowd is for go-karts. In 6 hours, at a lesiurly pase, I rode Pegasus twice, Zeus at least 10 times, and Cyclops at least 10 times. If I wanted to, I could have told my group to go do what they want for 20 minutes and just sat on one of the coasters, getting plenty of rides. BTW, in reality, each ride is 2 circuts, so I had 4, 20, and 20 :)

Vertigo, whats with your sig? It's too long! Don't make it more than 3 lines, it's twice as long as it needs to be!

Almost less than 2 weeks until SFGAm opens!

The best day I had at a park had to have been BGW last year on opening day, atleast I think it was. There was some cheerleading thing going on, and they were the only people in the park. When they went to do their competition thing around 7:30p.m. the park went deserted. I rode Alpengeist 12 times in a row, 4 of which being from the front. I rode Loch Ness 6 times in a row, 2 from the front. Then the 21 ride Apollo's Chariot marathon topped off the night. Some rides I got to stay on, the other times I had to get out cause people wanted our row. It was about 40 degrees and raining at the end, but it was amazing.

Pretty much any week night when Adventureland is open `til 9 or later, you can stay on the Outlaw non-stop for the last hour or two of the night. The Tornado usually has a line up until the last 1/2 hour of the night. It's hard choosing which woodie to ride. They're both good night rides, so I usually marathon on one for awhile and then switch to the other.

Adventureland is one of those parks that really thins out in the evening which is great for me, cuz I don't like being there during a hot day. I usually don't get there until 2-4pm. Now that they have season passes, I'll probably be spending MANY of my summer evenings there. Now if only they'd build a Shiveriong Timbers or Superman SFNE type coaster along the east side of the park (that space is just screaming for a big out & backer). I would be in heaven. Just one more week until Adventureland opens for the season!

Even when I've been to Michigan's Adventure on a Saturday, the wait for Shivering Timbers isn't bad. But on a weekday, there's been no more than a 2 train wait, and they've always ran two trains on my visits except for when I rode the thing back when it was a newborn and the second train hadn't been dropped off yet. Even then, I got 20 rides in that day and could have gotten over 40 if I hadn't done anything else.

I visited SFMM on the Wed after Labor Day in 2000. There was no wait for anything and the weather was perfect. I will never go to a park if I have to wait more than 1 hour for a certain ride; it's not worth it.
Marathon, definitely! Opening day of the '00 season, MIA was EMPTY. For the first 2 hours we stayed on Timbers and got 23 laps without getting up from our seats. For the total 5 hours that the park was open, we got 56 laps, along with 4 solo rides. That day will live in infamy forever :).

"Two day pass to Dorney last summer. No wait for Steel Force, Laser, Thunderhawk, Wild Mouse. 5 minute wait for front of Talon and Hercules.

The twice I have been to dorney it has been like this. It is great to just walk into Steel forces station and just sit down in any seat.

I've been in nearly empty parks several times when the weather was bad early in the season. But, the surprisingly empty park was Lakemont on July 3, 2000. I guess everyone was waiting for the big day on the 4th. There were probably less that 30 customers. Everything was a walk on and most had operators just sitting there waiting for a customer. I spoke to one local boy who said that he had done 44 laps on Skyliner up to that point, but his sister was ahead of him by several laps. My then 14 year old got her first ride through on Skyliner. For a couple seconds her face showed concerned, then it broke into a big smile when she realized why the train hadn't stopped in the station.

School days coaster craze at SFWoA. That was the emptiest park ever! You didnt have to leave your seat on XF, BKF, SUE, Villain, or anything to show the few people there. I hope SFWoA does it again this year. It was awesome!

May 4th, Oh Yea!
Welcome to Batman Knight Flight, America's longest floorless coaster.

I'm guessing that SFA is pretty empty right now since it's in the 50's and raining.

Mother's Day at SFoG last year it was a walk up to everything, except the Scorcher. Then we drove straight to Cedar Point where the longest wait out of two days was about a half hour for MF, which we rode close to 20 times the first day.

Since the 12th of May is our wedding anniversary, we don't have to report to our moms(getting married on Mother's Day is a long-term gift for the moms), so Mother's Day is going to be coastering day again this year, only at PKD most likely.......

I was at BGW one day that was totally dead. We were in heaven, we raced around, rode everything twice, including the flats, thinking that the crowds were going to swarm in at any moment (it was a nice day, too). Realizing after a couple of hours that wasn't happening, we took the leisurley approach, just walking around and enjoying having all the parks beauty practically to ourselves. It was VERY nice. Hoping for some more days like that this year as we are going at the same time.

When did you go?

I went to SFWOA on a cold, rainy June day and the park was completely empty. Every ride was a walk-on. My friends and I ran from ride to ride and even marathoned on a few coasters for a little bit. The only problem was that the park decided to close at 6 because of the attendance that day and the weather wasn't cooperating either. That had to be one of the best days at SFWOA last season.

That was fun! I wish everyday was like that. Except for the fact that a certain someone had to play sick like she always does when we go to SF. I'm sure you know who that is dan.

And for when it rained it was worth it to have our faces practically pierced by raindrops on Big Dipper to get the park to ourselves.

It was the second weekend in September 2 or 3 years ago on a Sunday. It was unusually cold that day. It was only in the high 50's in the morning and drizzly and didn't get much above the low 60's all day. That's beautiful weather for September, being from NY. I was very surprised to see the park so dead. It was shear heaven for us. We usaully go in October to BGW for HollowScream, and it's kinda crowded. It seems like it's always crowded when we go, because it's always around the holidays. That day was a real treat. I hope this September is like that.

The closest I have came to an Empty park at Six Flags Great America was during a heat wave in 2000. There was like a heat index of 110. The longest line I waited in all day was the line for the drinking fountain everything else was walk on. I rode Raging Bull in every seat on the train that day. It was one of the greatest times I have ever had at SFGAm.

My Top 5 Coasters:
1. Raging Bull(SFGAm) 2.Millenium Force(CP) 3. Deja Vu(SFGAm) 4.V2(SFGAm) 5.Cornball Express(IB)http://coasterworld.cjb.net

SFOG on July 4 1987. The park was virtually empty and there were no waits for any rides the entire day. The park only had 3 coasters at that time. We could get off of a ride and get back on immediately. It was like owning my own park.
Last Sunday, October 23rd at PKI.

I am estimating there was about 400-500 people in the park. We never waited for any ride. Rode beast 7 times in a row in the same seat.

Unfortunately, the park decided to close at 4pm instead of 8pm, due to the lack of people. Just like the old, saying; too much of a good thing can be bad!

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Went to IoA on a cold rainy day a couple years ago (in "Winter) where employees outnumbered guests by *about* 10-1...but hey, riding THRU the station on DD was something I'll likely never get to do again...

Then there was the Saturday in late May at GL...when I *fell in lust* with the bumper cars there...little did I know then that bumper cars (and land-boats?) would become a recurring highlight of Gatorcoastin' '05...:)
