Emptiest Park you Have Been Too??

Lothar--depends on the weather. Last year I was at the freezing Halloweekends and it was great--longest wait was 10 minutes for MF! But the weekend before and after were packed!

PKI yesterday (Easter). Heavy rains early, but cloudy the rest of the day. Oh, and being easter doesn't hurt. Walked on everything but FOF.

SFO last year, the day before CoasterMania. I poked my head in on the way to Cedar Point, and in 2 hours rode every coaster twice. Very happy day.

I'm going today and I don't anticipate a line due to the rain that is occurring right now. I love rainy days at themeparks, however whoever goes with me doesn't appreciate them how I do.

What is life with out coasters, geniuses, and/or SFA
Once again, to my homepark.

In October of 1999 Giant grocery stores sponsered a special at Hersheypark. If you bought $40 of groceries, you could get a coupon for half price admission to the park for up to 4 people.

This was well after the "regular" season for the park was over and was one of those "special" days. Anyway, it was a dreary day, overcast, foggy and it looked like it could rain at any moment. There were some places in the park that were open, but totally abandoned. On one ride, the train of the Wildcat that I was on had only 3 people in it!
It was really eriee to look across from the Wildcat and see the structure of the Lightning Racer (just starting to be constructed) rising in the fog.

Another time was last May at Lakemont park in Altoona. We were the only people on many of the flatrides. On the Skyliner, the ride op didn't even make people leave the station. She just let us switch seats or stay where we were and sent us through again! At one point, I was riding in the front seat of the coaster train and my wife was riding in the back seat, and there was no one between us! We had the entire train to ourselves!

In 1993 I went to the Beach (waterpark across from PKI) with a group of about 20 people from my church. It was raining, and we were literally the only people there for about 2 hours. You could see our bus all alone in the parking lot.
A number of years ago I went with a buddy to SFGAm on Labor Day when it was a drizzly, muggy day. The park was a ghost town. I think the employees outnumbered the patrons. Every ride was a walk-on with multiple rides the norm. I found out that rain can sting your face at 60mph but what a great day for riding.

Fun Spot, Labor Day 2000
MGM Grand Adventure, Vegas. There were like 10 people in the whole park on a hot July day.
Hmm, Last year at Cedar Point on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Terrible T- storms in the morning, not bad in the afternoon. Every ride was a walk-on except Raptor and Disaster Transport (once it finally opened).

Great Adventure a couple years ago. Cold rainy day. Lines were less then walk-on. I sat in the Scream Machine train while the ops waited for a few more people to come.

Wyandot Lake last September, The water rides had *nobody* on them, less then 10 people in the rest of the park.

Coldish, overcast days are wonderful times to visit parks

SFGAdv on Halloween night last year!
SFMM Thursday two weeks ago. The park wasnt busy at all i walked right on everything, rode all the coasters atleast once viper and goliath a few times in just 2 hours.
Libertyland on just about any weekday last year.
SFA, opening day 2000. It was a drizzly day in mid April. Most people probably didn't know the park was open, and some who did were scared away by the rain. I got so many rides on coasters that day, I was sore. I have a series of pictures from that day where you can see a grand total of 2 people..........in the entire set! The set includes a couple wide sweeping pics of the park too.
For me, almost anyday I go to SFA it is always not crowded. I went on a weekday last year and there was maybe 1,000 people in the park, almost nobody there. Superman was about a 5 minute wait and JJ was a walkon. So was Roar and the other woodie. Mind Eraser was a walkon and Two Face was about a 5 or 10 minute wait max. The park was empty. Then about two weeks later in the middle of the summer, I went on a Sat. and the same exact conditions. It seems to never be crowded at SFA. People can do what i do and ride every coaster about 20 times, it is so much fun!

At the park formerly known as Geauga Lake on opening day `97. There were probably only 20-40 people there. Of course it was 40* and hailing. I rode Mind Eraser 20 sometimes without getting up, unfortunatly i caught a cold or flu there and "made the trains green"

hummmmm, trying to think back to all the trips I have made, there are 2 that spring to mind.

Alton Towers(Sunday 2nd April 2000) It was the opening weekend of the season, so was expecting big queues, but totally got the opposite, I think it had something to do with a big thunderstorm 1 hr before opening, so it probably put people off. When me and my friend got there, we were stunned, the park was nearly deserted, there was just hardly anyone around, All rides were a walk on excect for Hex which was new and had a 30-40 min queue, We even went on Nemesis anfd Oblivion about 5 times each and not once did we queue up for any of those rides, Great Day

DisneyLand Paris(November 2000) Was expecting it to be empty because it was winter, but I didnt expect the park to be absolutly deserted nearly. Only spent 6 hrs 30 mins at the park, but squeezed in 7 rides on Space Mountain, 7 rides on Indy,4 rides on Big Thunder,2 Rides on Pirates of the Caribean, and every other major ride once or twice, longest queue of the day was Space Mountain at 15 mins once, it even became a walk on at times even though its the most popular ride at the park, and I stayed on twice in a row on the coaster.
Big Chief and Sea World Texas. Most of the people were looking at dolphins and riding their mini-cars. Great White and Steel Eel and SWT were walkons, I got about 3 rides on Great White and 5 on Steel Eel. The Big Chief coasters only had about five person lines, so I didn't have to wait much, and you got to go around twice each time. I got on Cyclops 4 times and Zeus 10. Pegasus 2. Very nice.

"I would say, when I went to Miribilandia in Italy with the ECC for Katun, there couldn't have been more than 200 people in the park and about 50 of them were ECC members, the whole day was like one big Ride session. And the weird thing is, the park is big, nice, full of good rides and it was a scorching hot day!!!"
I would probably have to say this weekend. I went to SFOG on SAT&SUN and on Sunday it rained half of the day. There were no more than a thousand or so people in the park. Until, the sun came out.
PKI July 14, 2000 - just about every ride was a walk on except for Sonny (running one train only) and Face Off. Bummed out that Drop Zone was closed for the day. Never been to the park with a crowd this small.

SFO on I believe a Monday night after work last year. It had rained off and on for most of the day but the skies dried up for the evening and had a wonderful night without any crowds.

I have never been to Cedar Point when it's dead except for Millennium Mania. Now THAT'S what I call exclusive ride time!

SIx Flags Great America - 1998. The second day of my visit it had poured terribly in the morning. But when it stopped, left the hotel to go to the park and it was empty. Too bad RB wasn't there yet.
