Employee (no) Talent Shows

Just wondering if any of the folks out there who work or have worked at parks have participarted in an employee talent show.

When I worked at Great America, our "No Talent Show" was one of the highlights of the season. Some of the more memorable acts included a rendition of  Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" called "Pour Some Pixie on Me" (in reference to the kittie litter we pour on guest vomit), and "Downtime" sung to Hogie Carmichael's "Blue Skies".

I couple fellow ride operators (Smurf, Bill-D, and Me-Buzzard)  and myself performed a rap. We had a DJ and live keyboardist. I built huge name tags that hung around our necks with metal chains. It was a lot of fun, but kinda burned our chances for promotion with it. ;) Here it is (I forgot Bill's part):

"Smurf"

People say "Yo Smurf, yer really burnt lookin' That's alright cuz I just been cookin' on the turntable That's were my lead put me. And all you ladies, oh how I'd love to load thee. And all you sups up in park ops, you wanna write me a written warning, naw, because I'm of the dopeness. And my rhymes are supercalifragilmostess. I have to keep an eye on the rapids that are rippin'. A raft could do the flipsy and the guests'll start wiggin'. I have to hit e-stop right away, throw the guests outta line and say "Have a nice day!"

"Buzzard"

Nineteen eighty-seven, the summer, my first summer I came down to get down the Whizzer always broke down. Standing out front and feeling dumb tellin' all the guests it wouldn't run. "Come back back later, maybe next year, who knows, who cares, it'll still be here." But it wasn't, not enough time. The Whizzer broke down for the last time. That's why I came back in '90. Skyhawk control is now where you find me Running that ride is now my career. My spiels acros the park is all ya hear. Kicking kids off too small to ride The parents cuss us out that "chaps my hide"

"All of us"

Whitewater Falls, the ride you get wet at Yet in the in the beginning, it wasn't even built yet. Quick on the go and quick on the draw 1600 capacity that you know is gonna beat all to the top, and we won't quit, and as for the Demon ha! they ain't "Shhhhaving cream, be nice and clean, shave every day and you'll always look keen." But we won't say that, cuz that ain't right and everybody knows that the Demon's outta site. So back to the ride we call the Whitewater and the guests that think that they're smarter than you. Cuz they just don't listen. So it's time to start full-on dissin' So make like a tree and leave You heard me, cuz with or without you, we'll still get paaaaid!"

Well after watching the video of ourselves, we decided to never do it again. Did you work there?

I worked at SFGAm for 4 years. I remember attending those shows, but never participated. One guy would do something every year by himself, he never won, but he would keep on going. It was very fun. And this was early 90's so I saw a few different Rap acts with the big name tag thing.
