Elitch Gardens August 25-28, 2008

The 2008 Democratic Convention is to take place at Denver's Pepsi Center August 25 through the 28th.

Usually these things mean nothing to amusement parks but Elitch Gardens is located right next to the Pepsi Center.

Anyone willing to guess how this convention will affect Elitch Gardens?

After talking to some friends of mine who live in Denver, I am somewhat surprised Elitch Gardens will even be open during this.

Yes, the convention will draw thousands and thousands to downtown Denver but with all the media, protest marches, people picketing, and all the extra security that goes along at these convention and with one being right next door, I don't see how Elitches would benefit here.

It might keep the locals away, but perhaps they'll put Hillary on Volare for a photo op. Then she can get beat up on a coaster instead of just the polls. ;)

^Putting Hillary (or Barack) on Volare would give McCain the perfect opportunity to discuss his position on torture... ;)
The park is already scheduled to be closed those days since school is expected to be in session during that week. School being in session might be changed though since there are a few schools within the security zone and the city of Denver has asked Denver Public Schools to postpone the start of the school year until the day after Labor Day.

With over 35,000 expected, every spare parking space near the can will be needed for buses, media, attending members, etc....

I have a Better Idea! Kidnap the both of them and make them MARATHON on Beech Bend's LOOPING STAR for 24 Hours! :) *** Edited 2/21/2008 9:51:33 PM UTC by Borntocoast***
