El toro Problem, build a theme park! (CA)

For those of you who live in Orange County and know about the El Toro Airport problem this is for you.

I realize that the land where they are planning to build is big so why don't the buil a darn theme park!!!!

(This topic is not about airports)

Do you really think "The Mouse" would allow another theme park built that close? Not likely. Disney packs a heck of a lot of political clout in Orange county.
Well if i was the city, i would say shut-up mousie.  And let me build my park!
My dad was stationed in El Toro back in the 70's.  I always thought that would be a great place for a park.
Your hope of not getting an airport is going to have it's hand forced by the Federal Government due to capacity and space issues at SNA.  The day will come when an aircraft goes off the end at John Wayne, or when the airport becomes slot allocated and your fares jump 60%. Do you really want this to happen?  El Toro is further inland and the aircraft will actually be quieter and at a higher altitude than they are now when they cross any residential areas.  Get used to it, and other large city dwellers should expect the same.  The aviation gridlock is caused by a landlock, we need airports and the only way to get them is to convert military bases or put them on a nice big chunk of flat land.  There isn't much of either left near the cities.  The airport was there long before your home was.  You should have thought about that before you moved there.

Easy for you to say snoopy, doesn't sound like you are a resident in that area, well, it just so happens that I am!!!! Down with the airport and up with the theme park!!!
The residents that live around El Toro do want a park (a public park, that is) to be built (a really big one) instead of an airport, but how are we going to trick them into getting an amusement park instead????

I am sorta condfussed. I recently vistited Cali a few weeks ago, and I was wondering Is El Toro the abandoned Air Force Base?

A little defensive huh? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think Apollo15 was actually joking about this. Sure, what enthusiast wouldn't want an amusement park in their backyard?

Anyway, I think most folks realize the need. Neighbors to any large project will naturally complain...it affects their quality of life and especially their investments. There will never be a happy solution for such problems. On one hand, we need to limit development. On the other hand, how and where will folks live and travel?

Anyway, the plan seems to be putting aside a rather large chunk of land for habitat. This is a good thing. For those of you not familiar with this issue, here are a couple links:

The air forced closed down and moved down to San Deigo.  Fine a way, to trick them, but all well the public park is betten than the airport, but i wish that would would get another theme park even though Knott's and SFMM are my favorite...

You mean Marine Corps. They moved to Miramar. Top Gun moved away. I'm not sure where they are now.

Snoopy, this is a humor joke for us SoCal's who live next or near the airport, for me myself i don't like it all it would do is bring more traffic delays to us OC.

It would be nice to have another theme park cheaper than Disneyland, but my place is at Knott's and SFMM.

Jan--- they went down to SD...away from us.
