I wrote a Carowinds/Kings Dominion trip report the other day in Microsoft Word, and already had some of it in a notepad. When I went to submit it, I moved some stuff around, cut and pasted here, etc. My fault for not reading it after I did all that - but what ended up in the forum was a mess - thanks to Travis for giving me a heads up.
Apparently cut and paste doesn't work to well in the forum - what is the best way to write a report, etc., and then paste it? What was left over in my report was silly fragments (most of the report was strangely gone) that made no sense (again, my fault for not reading it after I hit post - I thought it was fine.)
I've found that if you paste into notepad first, then recopy and paste here, you won't have nearly as many issues to deal with. This is really helpful if your coping from a website to paste here.

You're welcome Billy. Anytime.
After I realized it was a problem, I began pasting from websites into Mac's Stickies, which I assume is a lot like notepad, then recopy it and paste into the forum, and I don't have any problems at all. As fantastic as Jeffs forum code is, this is this is a pretty major problem. It's the only thing that keeps it from being perfect, as far as I can tell.
This topic might have been better suited to be placed into the "Suggestions For CoasterBuzz" forum. It might even get moved there before all is said and done.

I also have to paste to notepad and the to buzz.
I don't want to speak on behalf of Jeff, but I know Microsoft Word adds in a whole bunch of extra crap when you copy out of a document. I experience this problem on several sites- not just in POP Forums.
^^Notepad seems to be goofy too - when I cut and paste in there, then there are gaps and empty lines. Does all that transfer over to CB? And if so, I'm wondering if I should take care of said spaces when I get it into the CB window?
I usually clean it up in notepad before coming here. But, it doesn't really matter.

I feel good about this thread, because the only "notepad" I know has pages with straight lines and the pages are often white or yellow. Hey, I told you when I joined that I basically know nothing about computers....

Yes, word adds all kinds of crap if you're posting into the rich text box. The rich text editor in this version of the forum is also nearly seven years old.
The next version, which is in production on MouseZoom, uses an open source editor that scrubs out the Word crap. It also works in all of the browsers that didn't exist when I wrote this one.
If you're not particularly worried about bold, italics and what not, you can also force this one to use plain text boxes by going to your account settings. This is also the default behavior in Chrome and Safari.

Thanks everyone :) I re-posted my report, after having used Notepad as editor. It still looks a little goofy, but oh well :)
Can't wait for the new updates to CoasterBuzz, Jeff. It'll be icing on the cake to an already great website. CoasterBuzz is one of the main reasons I first wanted a computer a decade ago.

It frightens me a little that it's been around that long, and that you weren't old enough to get your own comprooder back then.

Yes - some of us are "OLD" ;-) But hey - I'd hope we're wiser as a result.
I was old enough to get a computer, Jeff. It's just that not everyone had one back then, and I was moving around so much between Cedar Point and Universal, and home, that lugging one around would have been a hassle. Laptops and wi-fi may have been a good idea, but that technology wasn't perfected and readily available yet.
I used my roommate's in Orlando. CP had bill-operated computers for their employees too. (15 minutes for a dollar). I visited the library a lot too. How times have changed.

I'm trying to not feel aged by this. LOL. I've had a computer since 1979 -
This was the first one, a Model 1, and you had to use a cassette to load your programs into memory.
I was so jazzed when I was finally able to upgrade my TRS-80 from 4K to 16K...

I was enamored by the acquisition of the spanking new white Model 4!!! It had a Green screen - we thought we were the Shiite of the neighborhood. Unfortunately the case finish had a rough texture to it that trapped dirt. The screen would bounce a bit when the drives booted up as well...

CP charged employees $1 for a measly 15 mintues! Geeez! Maybe it was par for that time ... I can just imagine the chats: "I'm in Cedars, what dorm are you in?"
