Businessman Ed Hart said he is “close to an agreement” on securing a $23 million bank loan toward his effort to reopen the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Hope it goes through too.
Stopped there once. It wasn't the greatest park, but it wasn't a bad park either. So Chang and Road Runner Express are gone... Two (three if you count Twisted Twins twice) good wood coasters are still there, plus the rest that were in their line up.
Never had the opportunity to ride their watercoaster as construction was JUST finishing up on my last visit. I do not count Twisted Whatever as a good coaster(s)....but that being said, Thunder Run and the Anton shuttle looper ViperWave make for an excellent beginning to ANY park.
Oh, thought I'd read somewhere that the rapids ride was also destroyed/removed....never rode that either, but from what I've heard, kinda wish I had.
edit: Ed Hart seems like an "on-the-ball" kind of guy, seeking information first but then acting boldly. I'm ALL for him getting the place re-opened... :)
Hey rollergator, do you know why they would have removed the water rapids ride if they did? Another good ride they had was Mile High Falls if you like those type of drop water rides. It had one of the biggest splashes I have ever seen from a ride of that type.

I thought Deluge was boring. I would much rather have gone down a standard water slide. It was the first that I rode and it didn't give me much desire to seek any more out. I believe Deluge was the first to use the magnetic technology in a water coaster. Looking back on it now, I realize it was probably a prototype. That's probably why it's the shortest (in length) one that I've ridden.
That being said, about an hour west is 1 (and soon to be another) awesome Water Coaster.

If memory serves me correctly, isn't everything on the north side of the Circle of Champions-whatever-you-call-it road supposed to be going byebye in Hart's rebuilding plan, including GL?

GL is my favorite coaster there. I hope he can find a way to keep it. That, or just make sure it finds a nice new home. :-)

I utterly agree. GL is one of my favorite launched coasters, period. The lack of OTSRs makes it one of the most re-ridable of shuttles.

His original plan was to relocate those rides to the other side of the park. Months later, fans of the park encourage the company on there facebook page to keep that side of the park since it's the original part of Kentucky Kingdom. It is also the part of the park which holds the most memories.
One thing that perked my ears recently was he wanted to purchase two new trains for T2. I don't know how much better the new train design is for the Vekoma SLC's, but new running stock would do wonders for that ride. He is quite determined to "replace" Chang with a new B&M. He knows that people would want to see something similar to it again. Ed is one smart cookie. I hope this works out well for him.
^^Very cool stuff! I'm hoping big time for that new B&M - so I can ride Greezed Lightnin' more!

+2....because sometimes one is not enough. ;)
You can only do one at a time by my rules. :)

Aw man, I was supposed to be keeping score? You really should put that in your FAQs, dude. ;)

I get just as many +1s as I do -1s, so I am perpetually at zero. I wish I knew it was important. I would have tried harder to get everyone to plus me more. ;)

The winkie face should have indicated to you that I was kidding, Billy. I don't care how many pluses or minuses I have. I didn't even know we were counting. lol
Plus and minus is a more interesting way to say "Me too" or "Your opinion is WRONG!" though. lol
