EastCoaster Reports?

... No recaps? Did anyone go? Who were presenters? Any new news from anyone? How was it?

Hard to remember all the speakers as they didn't have a program telling you what all was going on. But, many of the speakers that were at NoCoaster were also at EastCoaster with with reports that were similar or the same. Even though they had a timer for the presenters, most of the presentations went long just like NoCoaster which put the whole event into overtime. Over all I had a good time and managed to find a few Cedar Point and Geauga Lake brochures to add to my collection. :)

One thing I remember was that they had more detailed info on the 2006 Coaster Con in Orlando. They now have the information on the ACE site. http://www.aceonline.org/CoasterConXXIX/

I liked that the seating was at tables, as opposed to just rows of chairs like they did at NoCaoster.

The food was good. I especialy liked the chicken. It was served family style and only 5 of the 8 seats at our table were occupied so we had MORE than enough food. :)

I'll sort through my stuff later tonight to see if it'll jog my memory any more as to who spoke. I still have to download the picturs off of my camera. That will most certainly help my memory. Since I drove 7 hours there and 7 hours back, I am just now catching up on my sleep. The fact that the super bowl was on sunday didn't help :) *** Edited 2/7/2006 9:02:33 PM UTC by Jason Hammond***

Here's my cliff notes of the event:

-PKD's FoF won't be open this year at all. Beyond this year is questionable. PKI's FoF WILL be open. The launch coaster is also now called, Italian Job: Turbo Coaster.

-GCII unveiled Kentucky Rumbler's train front. Looks pretty sharp. Coasterpunk and I believe Chris Gray(correct me if I'm wrong please) were also on hand to show some pics of the completed KR and Powerpark woodie. BTW, KR is gonna be wicked insane!

-Tom Rebbie wasn't there in person but sent in a 10+ minute video of him touring the PTC factory. By far the highlight of the vid was him sitting in the front car of The Voyage train speaking high praises of the soon to be opened coaster.

-SFGAdv. again said with 50% certainity that Batman AND Robin will both run this year. At least Robin will. El Toro won't be open on opening day but more like a Memorial Day opening. The park is also introducing tons of new shows.

-DP - Wave Pool

-GL - Wave Pool and cabanas. Side Note:

-WoF, Chris Ozemick, the formal Marketing manager of DP, flew in to present his exciting new looper Hydrrrrr... The Patriot. :o)

-Paula came to talk about Holiday World and was definitely one of the highlights of the day. She also talked a little about Holiwood Nights and of course encourage us to attend.

-PKI - Their Disko coaster will feature a skateboard instead of the disc.

-PGA - Their Disko coaster is actually quite interesting. The guests waiting next to go on will determine how wet riders who are currently on the ride will get. The more noise they make, the wetter the riders get. Sounds like a lot of fun.

-And finally, Paul Rueben was also on hand to talk about Vekoma's latest and greatest attractions. Yippy.

Some other stuff happened but I forgot what it was exactly. Feel free to add-on.

You were right it was Chris Gray. Beech Bend was also there and gave a brief history of the park before Chris took over talking about the Rumbler. They are also getting a petting zoo this year too!

I guess I need to bring a Tape recorder next time. :) That about sums it up.

Paul Rueben also gave some video of S&S's interesting concepts. The Sonic Boom ride, that some here and some at Eastcoaster have experienced, and an alteration of the skycoaster were two that I remembered.

Other than that most of the announcements were covered either in this thread or through news that we heard, like the designated smoking areas at SF and that reentry is still allowed for This season.

Watch the tram car please....
So a DP guy gave the Patriot presentation???

S&S's Sonic Boom is ABSO-GNIKCUF-LUTELY INSANE! Most intense negative-Gs I've ever felt.
Jason I'm surprised by that news as well. I wonder where Nick was that weekend. I know he did NoCoaster.

An ex-DP guy who works for WOF did the Patriot presentation and kept accidently saying Hydra. I felt sorry for the poor guy.

Yeah, the ex DP guy you are referring to is Chris Ozimek. He was the Public Relations Manager at Dorney for a number of years (I think roughly from 2002 to late 2004). He was promoted to Director of Marketing at WOF. Heather Kramer became the Public Relations Managaer at DP. He kept saying Hydra because he started off his presentation by joking that in the years he was at Dorney he never got to present a new coaster. Yet, in her first year Heather got to present Hydra. Now he was back to present a new coaster finally, Patriot. After he said this he goes "so how's that wave pool comin, Heather???" Haha it was funny. But I guess he missed his Dorney roots because he did say Hydra a number of times instead of Patriot.

Just an FYI, with Eastcoaster someone usually mentions something about all the parks for CF. This year Heather presented Dorney, Knotts, MIA, and VF. Lexi Robinson, Public Relations Manager for GL, comes to present for CP and GL (by the way she's nuts!!...MRS SEVEN). It just happened that this year Chris came for WOF. It all has to do with who is invited by the main guys who organize the event.

I'm sure Chris O. *requested* a trip back to his old stomping grounds. CF just "did him a solid" by paying for his trip... ;)

Nice Seinfeld reference, huh? :)

I still can't believe Paul Rueben called some of Vekoma's prototypes "hairbrained". If I was Vekoma I'd be a little upset mainly because there were a few reps from park chains like Paramount, Six Flags, and Cedar Fair thats a god bit of the parks in the US.
I did enjoy the "Executive Coasterpunk" comment by Chris Gray. ;)

Nuts doesn't even begin to explain Lexi. What's interesting is when I talked to her at CoasterEXT last year and she was all calm and laid back then at EC... Wow! That's suprising! ;)

I think Lexi is slowly starting to become the new Jeff Seibert....or should I say (as he was affectionately referred to by his ex co-worker) Schlitterbahn Seibert!

But I'll never forget the fun of Tomb Raider: The Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide!
