Earthquake evacuates Sea World coaster

Major quakes happen rarely. Tornados hit the midwest several times a year, every year. I grew up in Cleveland, and every year there was a major twister somewhere, and several moderate tornados. Every year there was a major snowstorm. Oh, and a good ice storm. I must have been crazy to move to L.A.; we had a major earthquake 10 years ago!

Seriously though, as Moosh said no matter where you live you have to deal with something. It's a part of life, and there's no sense worrying about it all the time.

Earthquake right now Moosh? "flixible" "fliexible" ;)

Yea, to some extent they're flexible, but I would think that a real strong quake with an epicenter near a park would probably take down something that's relatively unsupported like Xcelerator's top hat. Anyone know if they have to "spring load" the foundations of coasters like they do for buildings and highways?

It was just the parade for the pistons in detroit being felt all the way in l.a. j/k

Actualy, I think that I remember seeing a show about ghost rider at knots. It said that there was 3 times the normal amount of wood used on the support structure due to possably enduring a quack.

As far as a tornado goes, I dont think that even a tornado has enough streangth to raze a coaster.

If you are refering to the close proximaty to the Anaheim Pond, yes it can endure a quack.
Im with you on this one too. Its like committing suicide because people on the west coast know that a huge earthquake is past due but they keep put. I dont understand it?
Yeah every city has natural disasters, but you usually know if its raining hard enough to flood, if there weathers bad for a tornado. You have preparation, and for an earthquake you dont. You can say, my house meets earthquake standards, well you dont know if an earthquake is going to happen if you under a bridge, on the road, downtown, anywhere. You know when the weather is getting bad because of forecasting.
