Belive it or not that is not a stupid question, I was thinking that to, they cant leave 1 side up, because the people on top would be facing Backwards. Does anyone know how this wor

EDIT: I mean upside down(bold)

Check out the video here: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/astroworld/rides/swat.html

The entire assembly lowers to the ground.

Well, I believe the whole spinning apparatus starts parallel to the ground, right near the ground, so people can load the ride. Then, once loaded, the whole thing rises to the top, then it starts spinning. Hope this helps!

Danke :) I got bored with that video after about 30 seconds on the first go around and never saw the end.

Ohh Thanks

Yeah, the whole platform launches upwards like a [drum roll....] S&S tower. Probably not with as much force, but it will use the pneumatic system S&S has perfected to lift the entire assembly into the air.

I wonder if the ride cycle will be as long as that video. ;)

So what's the big deal? It looks fairly pedestrian to me. Not that it won't be fun; it's just nothing really exciting.

Doesn't S&S bill it as a "family" ride?

Brent - I can think of a few rides where you dive face down, including my favorite flat: the Zipper. There's nothing better than hitting the edge and going face first on a Zipper.

Moosh [wait for it...]

You dive down like that on a Sky Scraper, too. This looks like an S&S Variation on that very ride.

Don't...Look....Back

I would love to take a ride on that sucker. It looks reall fun. I don't care if it just spins like that, I'm sure Stan will find a way to make it go backwards too!
I think it says on the Astroworld site that the ride will last for 2:30! Thats really long!!!

Procrastinators UNITE!!!....tomorrow.

My God!! I think that may just qualify as the absoloute Worst Promotional Video EVER!! The whole thing was 2 minutes and 36 seconds long, which is about two whole minutes longer than it needed to be!! And what was with that sountrack? It soudned like a troop of Chimpanzees!

On a more serious note, the ride itself looks like a lot of fun. Will it change direction midway through? Otherwise, the two different sides will give very different rides. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I'm just curious about it.

Moosh makes a good point - the Zipper is quite an underrated ride. Too bad most carnies are waaaaay too sketchy for me to be riding them... ;)
