drop ride at sfdl???

i was talking to a ride op at sfdl and he said that the park was looking into installing an intamin drop tower for the 2002 season. I think this could happen seeing that martans fantasy island and paramounts canadas wonderland both have drop towers that i'm sure sfdl could out do. Any thoughts on this or predictions on what sfdl will recieve next year or in the near future? ( personally i'm hoping for a clone of acrophobia @ sfog except a lot taller!)

Well, talking with some inside sources. I heard that some of the big-wigs over at Six Flags Darien Lake were over visiting Six Flags New England a couple weeks ago. They apparently were looking at the Huss Fly Away ride and appeared very interested in that.

Now for me... this is what I would like to see:

1) Pool by Darien Square: REMOVED.
2) Batting Cages: REMOVED.
3) Pavillions by Elk Lake: MOVED or REMOVED.
4) Camping area behind Go-Karts & Twister: REMOVED.
5) Cascade Canyon & 'Cuda Falls: RELOCATED by the Crocadile Isle

With those areas cleared... I see a lot of potential for expansion. For the pool and batting cages, a flat ride can definately fit in those two places... with decent themeing at that!

With the pavillions moved or removed, and the area past the gates by Superman, I see a very well themed Metropolis area being established for more rides

With the waterslides moved across to Crocadile Isle, I see either a couple flat rides, Shoot-the-Chutes, or even (need I say it) a rollercoaster).

Finally, with the small camping area removed (let's face it, Darien Lake can do without a couple hundred sites out of 2000!), they can set up a whole new themed area such as Gotham City since it is near the Batman show.

MY PREDICTION FOR 2002
I definately see the water park expansion happening, with a shoot-the-chutes ride (this was planned for 2001 originally), but I also see either a couple flat rides, or a new coaster. Where, I don't know... but if they take my advise... there'll be plenty of room!!!!
I'm love the thought of sfdl getting new water attractions and flat rides and a new coaster!!!! that would be AWESOME! If throw in a drop ride and i personally think you've got a great expansion for next year. what type of coaster do you think they'd get if they got one?
A drop ride would be awesome a clone of x would be so cool. but i doubt that. maybe a floorless.
Maybe a floorless?

I wish, but somehow, I just can't picture a B&M coaster at Darien Lake. It's a nice thought, however... to finally get a smooth looping coaster (not that Viper is bad, but c'mon... it's Arrow).

Well, you can rule out any more foward/backward coasters (including super invertigo), inverted coasters, and arrow loopers... so what you are left with... a new wooden? Wishingly a B&M style coaster?

Who knows... I wish they'd clue us in!
an acrophobia ride at sfdl would be a great addition along with at least one batman themed rollercoaster no matter it be a batman villian or just a clone of something like BKF would be great for the park
I think its very reasonable, and sounds like it could happen.... I would think that if they *did* build one it would have to be taller than Fantasy Islands and PCW's.

I am really looking forward to a Flyaway though :-D
