Driving in Florida

Just wondering if any Florida residents could pass on any info about the roads between Tampa and Orlando.  You know, construction, changes, or just any sort of driving tips you could pass along.  We'll be down there around Oct 11th to Oct 14th.  Thanks in advance.
Be careful.  I-4 is notorious for bad drivers.  You'll be ok from Tampa til about Haines City, then traffic usually starts.  If it's raining, it'll take you an extra hour or so to get to your destination!

I-4 is the MOST painful road in existence - makes Arrow megaloopers and the old FoF seem pleasant by comparison.  If you get on that road anywhere near rush-hour, I'd suggest bringing a tent...might even be better off waiting for Gov. Bush to get that high-speed rail system up.

Boy, I can tell that gatorwoodie and CsTrFrK have never driven the capital beltway at rush hour.  Seriously, while not a Floridian, I can say that I-4 isn't too bad if you avoid rush hour, which isn't too hard to do on a trip to Busch Gardens.  Just try to scoot for Tampa right after rush hour in the morning, and then eat dinner before you leave the Tampa area in the evening.  We did this and had no real trouble.

Do always keep in mind that central Florida is the official thunderstorm capital of the country and do everything with that in mind.

Thanks everybody.  Sounds like fun, especially since I'll be the one holding down the passenger seat.  I was also wondering if there are anyway to get cheap park tickets, particularly for IOA and BGT.  The place I work for was supposed to have some, but they haven't come through for me.  Oh yeah, on the whole thunderstorm thing, I am QUITE aware of how that goes down there.  The bus driver a few years back said it averages a storm for an hour a day.
Is there much construction on the I-4 or any other major roads down there?  Its orange barrel hell up here just about everywhere you look.
Not very much construction.  And Jim Fisher, I've been stuck on the beltway before.  As a matter of fact, it was in an ice storm at about 2 in the morning.  It took us about 4 hours to go from I-95 on the south side of DC to I-95 on the north side of DC.

I'm not up to date on tickets deals, but when we went there was a good package deal on a ticket plan that included both Universal Parks (and allowed park hopping), Seaworld, and Busch Gardens.
LMAO...actually Jim, I lived up in MD., for a long time, and have gotten "stuck" on the capital beltway a couple times.  One particular work trip from Daytona to Tampa (add to the reasons to KEEP this job), it took about 5-1/2 hours to cross the state.  Afterwards, we figured it would have been faster to return to G'ville, then drive to Tampa from home...that was the worst traffic experience of my life...good thing I can laugh about it now...kinda!
