Well, after a crazy trip last week, my friend and I are heading out for round 2 tommorow, heading to P-town for Kennywood. We're also hitting SFWoA (getting more use out of our SF passes) in the morning since its on our way there. My question is this: About how long of a drive can we expect from Aurora to Kennywood? I'm guessing around 2 hours.
Also, what time do some of you think would be a good time to leave SFWoA to head to Kennywood? I've been to WoA twice already this year, so I'm not worried about being able to ride everything, but I would like to ride everything a few times (including PR and Exterminator) at Kennywood. I don't really know what crowds are like there in the middle of the week or what kind of waits I can expect. If we are at Kennywood by 4 or 4:30, should that leave us enough time? Thanks for the help!

I have no idea how long of a drive you are looking at, but I would want to get to Kennywood before 4pm. If you want to ride all the flat rides and the coasters, I don't think you'd leave yourself enough time. IF you're just going for PR and Exterminator, those are the rides with the longest waits, and you will eat up a lot of time waiting for them in the afternoon and evening. When I went on a Tuesday in June, the Exterminator line was consistently around an hour after 1pm, and the park wasn't all that crowded. PR was about 45 minutes all day.

Honestly, you really need to spend all day at Kennywood. You have to ride everything, and if you get there when the park opens, you will experience shorter lines for PR and Exterminator.

I've never actually made the drive, but it might be 2 and a half hours. Honestly, if you've already done WoA, I would suggest going straight to Kennywood. It's a park you need to experience a whole day in to fully appreciate it. If you do go to WoA, you might want to try to make it a very short trip. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do the two parks. No matter what you decide to do though, have fun!
When I was there a few years ago, we showed up right at 10 AM and found that a few of the coasters (Steel Phantom and Racer, to be specific) didn't even open till noon. Even though it rained a bit that day, I rode all the major coasters twice (pre-Exterminator days), PittFall twice, and we were still out of the park by 5:30 PM (I wanted to stay longer but Dad was ready to leave :) ). I remember waiting around 30 to 45 minutes both times for the Steel Phantom, too, and we were still out of there that early.
Does the park still not open particular rides till noon? That's why we were going to hit SFWoA on the way there, anyway, so we'd have something to do in the morning to 1. break up our drive to Kennywood, and 2. spend the evening at Kennywood when the park is in full swing. I'm not interested in hitting all the flat rides (maybe a few like Kangaroo and Turtle) and definitely want to experience the park when it's lit up for the night. Let's just say I want to hit all the coasters twice, a few flat rides, and have time for fries, too. What do you think is the best time to get to the park. Around 3? Thanks again.

I think that wait times may be up a bit compared to the last time you were there. The consensus is that PR is way more popular than SP was when you went, and the closing of Aero 360 for the season means waits for other thrill rides will be longer. Exterminator is also a very popular ride, as it well should be, and always has a wait. I guess you could get what you want done if you got there at 3, but you'd probably be pretty rushed.

I only thought the drive was around 1.5 hrs. I think you would have enought ime to hit everything, when I was there on Friday, the lines were not bad at all.

MooreOn, the park opens at 10:30AM and the rides start at 11AM. Like I said before, you should probably spend most of the day to fully experience Kennywood.

It will take you about 2 - 2 1/2 hours from SFWoA to Kennywood. Gates open at 10 am and all rides (unless maint. reasons) open at 11 am. I agree with the others and say skip SF and go straight to Kennywood. Lines for PR have been anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours depending on the crowds. If you get there at opening go straight for PR.
