Dreamworld has whipped up a storm in recent days, announcing the name of its new high-tech rollercoaster as CYCLONE.
Definitely not for the faint hearted, the new ride will simulate a real CYCLONE with lots of nail-biting twists, hair-raising turns, wild winds and water sprays.
Standing an impressive 13-storeys (40 metres) high, Dreamworld's CYCLONE will be the biggest high-speed gravity rollercoaster of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
Reaching speeds of up to 85km/ph and weighing almost 1000 tonnes, the whirl wind CYCLONE is set to blow guests away with all the white-knuckle swoosh factors of a hair-raising 360-degree loop and a screaming sidewinder.
CYCLONE will join Dreamworld's collection of the tallest, fastest rides in the world when it officially opens this Christmas!!
Stay tuned for more information!!

Home Park: Wonderland Sydney, Australia
Its a load of hype if you ask me.
After all this is just a secondhand rollercoaster; the old big dipper from Luna Park Sydney.
And as for the claim its the biggest "gravity" roller coaster in the Southern Hemisphere. It's simple not true the "Bush Beast" at Wonderland Sydney (www.wonderland.com.au) is still the biggest.
See it getting re-constructed at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia here at "Twisted Rails" http://www.twistedrails.com/dw/oct21.shtml

Cyclone is I 130ft
These are all the tall coasters in Australia, and the tallest is Cyclone. Now onto African coasters...
Anaconda is 111ft.Cobra is 115ft.Golden Loop (Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop, so not really counted, and they dont go to the top anyway) 137ft. Shaft of Terror is 167ft, and is vertical, so not really in the same class. Orient Express is 115ft. And the Boomerang in Egypt is 125ft.
It seems it is really the tallest of its class in Southern Hemisphere.
