Has anybody seen the preview for Dream Coaster on Dreamcast? It looks to be an awesome game and I am going to buy a SEGA Dreamcast now. The graphics aren't the best but it looks similar to UC3D. You can do any type of element and there are levels of play. It looks tight. Has anybody else seen it?
Here's the site:
http://www.xicat.com/games/dreamcoaster/index.htm You can download a 2 minute video about the game.

Yeah I've seen it and it does look pretty tight, but if I had to choose between one of the two I would choose RCT for a couple of reasons:
1. The curves on Dream Coaster aren't all that great.
2. You can ONLY build rollercoasters.
But I do like the fact, however, that there all multiple views, including first person.

OKay I am going to have to agree, it does look off the chain as far as graphics go, but the curves are choppy, so is everything else.

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point
As the proud owner of a Sega Dreamcast, I think that Sega is doomed. They are the rapidly dying 4th party that just doesn't have the cash to front another home console. The only way that Sega could possibly survive in that market is if they sell a million or more consoles by the end of the winter. A Dreamcast wouldn't be the wisest investment to make. Chances are that it will fall into obscurity, just like the extinct Saturn.
I'm kind of curious as to where you draw that conclusion from, because the gaming press doesn't see it that way at all. Dreamcast's user base is more than adequate to sustain the business for several years to come, and right now they're the only one's who have adequate product on the shelf for the holiday, on-line games and a lock on sports games in particular.
Every one gets all excited when a new system hits the streets (that is, if you can even find one), but fails to realize that without the killer games, only the hardcore gamers are going to buy the system. Just ask Nintendo... that phenomenon has haunted them from the lauch of N64.
Obviously the other player is Sony, but show me which stores have PS's, because I haven't seen one. Even if you do have one, the games out so far don't show what the hardware can do, so why buy an expensive box to play PS1 games? Add to that the well-covered developer complaints that it's hard to develop for, and you see a crisis in the making.
Dreamcast will do well this season, and the real threats to their well-being won't come until next year... from Microsoft and Nintendo.

I agree with Jeff. You're going to have some pre orders for PS2, but by and large Dreamcast will still be the dominant console until PS2 releases for real and Nintendo introduces Dolphin.
With Microsoft I don't know. I think it depends on future court rulings.

You build it, I'll ride it
Even if they are broken up (and I doubt it'll happen), it doesn't matter which business unit they land in, according to the X-Box project manager. The box will already be out, and they've already got the developers roped in.

Thank God for Jeff! You spoke worlds to me, everything that I have tried to stress since the Dreamcast came out was just summed up in that great post. Thank you Jeff for actually speaking the truth.
Sony fans: Just because a system has DVD and good graphics doesn't mean that every game company is going to bow at Sony's knees and surrender! Being at 300 dollars doesn't help either.
I am getting a Dreamcast for Christmas!!!
I apologize for being totally off topic but I just had to get this opinion out. Dream Coaster looks sweet!!!!!

Coasters- a little slice of heaven

Oh wait. I posted this, and the game is called Coaster Works not Dream Coaster

"There's another monster on the drawing boards!"
Actually I believe, and I could be wrong, the Japanese version was known as Dream Coaster. The title was changed when it was announced for the US which happens all the time.

Is there like a thing where you can play PS games on DC? I want Smackdown 2: Know Your Role (non-coaster related) for Christmas.

To answer your question, Goliath, it's called Bleem! and what it is, is that it's a CD you put into your DC and it makes the DC "pretend" it's a PS. Then after you put the Bleem! CD in, you put the PS CD and you play the CD on the DC. They also have Bleem! pods so you can use you PS controllers.

The only problem with Bleemcast is at the moment it's vaporware. It was shown at E3 this year, but since then it has missed every release date that has been announced. FYI, once it is released look for the game packs to each hold the code to play 100 PS1 games. There will be 4 to start and they'll retail for $19.99 each. No list of supported titles are available yet, but they should be when a final release date is given.
Personally, I can't wait to play Sim Theme Park on my DC. (just kidding of course. I had to keep this somewhat coaster related. hehe0
-JJ
The reason Bleem! is not out yet is because Sony is trying to sue the company how makes. You can buy a Bleem! that plays PS on your computer though. To sum up the thing about the names of the game it is called Jet Coaster Dream in Japan. It was going to be called Dream Coaster here but the name was recentley changed to Coaster Works. This is a must buy Dreamcast game for me. By the way the DC is not dead.!!!

Mellenium Force; The future is riding on it.
Yup, mfcrazyrider, you are correct. It was called Jet Coaster Dream in Japan. I didn't think I was completely correct. ;-)
The game does look pretty sweet, but I think I still like making the total theme park experience in RCT rather than just the coaster building as in the DC game.
BTW, there has been no official notice, that I know of, that Sony is suing the Bleem company over the Dreamcast version. I do know they were sued over the PC version some time back, but Bleem won that case.
I can't understand why Sony would put up that much of a fuss over the program since most of the money Sony, and Sega for that matter, make are on licensing of the games not on system sales themselves. In fact, Sega took a heck of a hit earlier this year when they dropped the price on the DC by $50.
-JJ
PS: My mistake. After a more thorough search of the Bleem site, I did see that Sony was suing them again though no new information since May of this year is available.
