Dragster to have upward twist?

[url="http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp102602const/imagepages/PICT0267.html"][url="http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp102602const/imagepages/PICT0267.html" target="_blank">This makes me believe that there will be a twist on the ascending section of the tower because of the angle difference in the last two supports. Any thoughts?
Sure looks like it!

Coaster Counter: 85+...I need to sit down and figure it out :)

It has to have some kind of twist to be a tophat.

Yes Mr. Freeze, but he was pointing out the fact that the spiral might be on the UPWARD end, contrary to popular rumors that the spiral is on the down end. I dont know which will be cooler, spiraling upward, or downward, it dosent really matter anyways, this ride will rock.

EDIT: Techincally, I wouldnt have to have a twist at all to be a top hat. The one at CP does, because it travels downward on the same side it travels upward. If it didnt do this, it could travel downward on the other side, so really just because it is a tophat dosent mean it has to have a twist.

stljason1, my vote in terms of preference (definitely not likelihood), would be for it to twist BOTH ways....but then again, CP already HAS a launched ride that does....;)
I was hoping for a 540 degree twist on both sides. It'd be even freakier.

There's only one problem with your theory...those supports are on the down side! That side of the tower connects with the brake run. The up side supports are angled much more gradual for the 90 degree turn.

The way that it is twisting, it will probably only be a 270 deg. twist on the down side. The up side may only be 90.

There is a new twist in the Top-Hat. :)

I am almost positive it will twist up and down. There is so much twisted track at the point it's not even funny.

Took a good hour looking at everything tonight and it has became extremely clear what S:TR will do.

It will be very impressive even if it is short. Hypersonic XLC on Crack.

Either way it is going to be awesome!

I'd really like to see that cool drop style that Intamin did with Expedition GeForce - you know where it drops twisting to the right and takes a quick slight left before the bottom. I think they could do that after the crest of a tophat. The pics don't look like it will be doing that, but if it really is 420' they could easily have a second top hat with that Expedition twist thing on the drop .

Has anyone heard anything about the height? Most rumors are saying it will be 420', but has anyone heard a different rumor?

I can't wait! =)

Very unlikely but it would be sweet if it twisted just like Xcelerater only in the opposite direction so that so that you would twist inwards and under the top of the hill and be upside down. That would be insane!

quit complaining about stupid things like spelling and abreviations. It's not worth it.

realmadrid311,

That would make it just like Mr. Freeze and B&R:TC . See the picture at: http://www.rcdb.com/full/six-flags-great-adventure/batman-and-robin-the-chiller1.jpg

And I agree, I think that would be great. The Mr. Freeze-style top hat is probably my favorite inversion. However, cresting a 400 ft. hill into a 90 deg. vertical drop in the front seat has gotta be pretty damn intense too :)

Now that I think about it some more though, the inverted top hat really is better - it would be exciting regardless of where you sit on the coaster. The "over the top" top hat would really only benefit riders in the front. I hope "CP 2003" will be an inverted top hat, but chances are it will be over the top. Although, this twist concept will definitly make up for that.

My thoughts on the new name:

EXCALIBUR (or XCALIBUR).

just a thought.

How do we know its name already? Back in September of 2002, everyone thought Xcelerator would be named Greese, until like the night before, when someone mentioned it began with X, then we got an early newspaper article the next day.

guess this pic rules out the inverted top

Yeah. Good point. Sure it will still be good. Let's hope for the twist. At least then it will be a 2 trick pony ;)

Hey Joe, I thought Mr. Freeze and DV were tied for your #5 steel position. What happened?

It'd never happen, but I'd love to see it with a stengel dive at the top.... :-)
