Who is to say that they didn't replace the cable in the off-season? Or for that matter that it hasn't been replaced once already this year overnight?

Apparently they have not got all the bugs out of this thing. 2 cables and we just hit June? Yikes. I hope Intamin is picking up the tab.
The Navy replaces the arrestor wires (steel cables) on aircraft carriers after every 100 landings and the things still snap sometimes. Sounds like CP caught a problem while it was still small, unlike last year's actual break. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a replacement schedule based on the number of launches as wear is inevitable. All part of the cost of doing business.
