Dragster closed today and yesterday?

Hey guys, I check the webcams every so often at work and it doesn't look like dragster opened the last two days. I don't mean to obsess, but I'm traveling there from Florida in two weeks. Anyone know what's up? Thanks.

What a POS.
With 2+ years to work out kinks on TTD, I'm still worried about KK. So many peole are claiming it has been and will be pretty problem free. I'm waiting to see....

I am really looking forward to another ride (only #2) on it at coastercon but the more I think about it I wont get it.
Weird. It was fine Sunday morning. Makes a great caffeine substitute...
Summary: Same S***, Different Year.

Well for KK, I would consider not opening on the originally planned Media Day a problem. Not opening for the supposed 2nd media day didn't happen. I'd say you can assume it's having it's share of problems, especially since that there has been no reschedule of Media Day. Who knows when it will open.... just like TTD. Both full of problems, though they are amazing rides
The new media day is the 19th and it opens to the public on the 20th.
There has been *zero* evidence to say Kingda Ka has been having mechanical/ride related issues.

There are many more reasons that have really nothing to do with the ride that would keep Kingda Ka closed.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Kingda Ka's problem was just that they still had work to do around the ride. The landscaping and themeing around the ride was just completly finished within the last few weeks and since then they were just waiting for approval from the city and state and all that takes time. Those inspectors don't just come right over when the park calls. They set appointments several days later. Storm Runner was running fairly reliably all of last year as compared to the similarly sized Xcelerator its opening year. If nothing else, I'd say that with the experience Intamin has had building the first four pnumatic launched coasters, Kingda Ka should be a much more reliable ride than TTD. It's just a shame that Cedar Point, a park who seems to be the expert in making their rides run to the best of their ability, is still having so many problems with TTD so many years after it opened.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I was at Cement Point on Sunday and Dragster went down soon after my arrival around noon and was down all afternoon until I left at 5pm (I went to ride Blue Streak which was running phenomenally I'm happy to say). But as intense of a ride as Dragster is, it sure is an unreliable POS!! I just had to laugh about the mentality behind installing these types of rides and getting people to come for all the hype they receive while they are constantly having problems with them running consistantly. I think you have better chances with the lottery.

It was down Sunday because of weather (wind). I'm not sure what yesterday and today's reasoning is (maybe weather - too cold?) but I'm sure they're doing everything in their power to open it back up.

Jc,

Quite right man. KK has had no mechanical difficulties. The only thing that has kept the ride from opening is an operating permit. Which the state of New Jersey was lagging on approving.

As long as I get my ERT on Saturday morning I'll be happy. Do you think SFGAdv will have a KK status page on their website if they have problems with it, like CP has for TTD?
Just wanted to say that Rita seemed incredibly reliable when I was at AT last month. It had zero downtime all day, as far as I observed and saw on the "wait time boards" around the park.

Obviously, the size difference is HUGE as is the number of trains (and frequency of launches) between KK, TTD and Rita.

But hopefully, Intamin is getting better with age when it comes to the rocket coasters.

I doubt it

Considering the amount of time it takes for SF Corporate Webmaster to do requested updates I doubt they could pull that off. From what I understand it took a lot of hair-pulling to even get it so SFGAm could post a new webcam photo for Hurricane Harbor every day.

So does anyone know if it is true that TTD had a hydraulic fluid leak that went into the lagoon?
I won't believe it until I see something on the news or from Cedar Point.
