Dracula's Castle Burns Down

I submitted this is a news item, but I thought that some of you would want to know before it shows up on the main page...

Dracula's Castle, a classic walk-through haunted house and longtime Wildwood boardwalk landmark, was reported to have caught fire this morning.  The large building was also home to an old mill chute-type ride in the basement level, but I am not sure if that had opened during the past few years.  Up until 1985, the Jack Rabbit/Scream Machine/Screem Machine woodie had stood next to the castle.  It was a 1919 John Miller creation.

What park is thiS?

Out of the coasters i've ridden here is wat i rank them overall:(ive been to canobie lake and SFNE)
1. S:RoS 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Riverside Cyclone 4. Canobie Corkscrew 5. Thunderbolt 6. Galaxy 7. Mind Eraser 8. Dragon coaster 9. poison ivy's tangled
Technically, the Castle was located next to what used to be Nickel's Midway Pier, but that is now a waterpark so I am unsure if it was still associated with it.
:( Even if it's not a coaster that got damaged, seeing any ride get damaged is not fun.

It couldnt of been operated with guests going through it or riding on it, i dont think the ride nor the boardwalk is open during the winter.

For those of you who know Wildwood, the castle was right across from Mariner's Landing, home of the Sea Serpent coaster.

I am sure that were no people inside the building (well, guests anyway), so at least there is some good news.

This is a heartbreaking loss, one of the last remnants of Wildwood's amusement past gone forever.

This will be closed as soon as Jeff reads the link, but for what it is worth, here is what happened. About 1030am, this morning Wildwood Police discovered the building in flames, and several people running from it.

Draculas Castle is located on Nickels Midway Pier, on the West side of the boardwalk. It is also home to SplashZone Waterpark, which opened in 2000.

Also below bordering the midway on Cedar Avenue were several f/b outlets and games, all destroyed, along with a old mill type ride located under the castle on street level.
