Drachenfire

Can somebody tell me where i can find some information on this coaster.  I am not familiar with it and would like to know why it is closed and why everybody likes it so much.

Well as I am sure this topic will get clsed you can search on yahoo and stuff for drachen fire and it will lead you to various save drachenfire webpages. no one really knows why it closed it's argued that is was because of everythign from an eagle's nest on top of one of the inversions to low ridership. all people know is that it ceased operating one day  in july 98 and and hasent opened since. and drachenfire is something of a unique coaster. people sometimes referd to it as a steel free form.  it's a pretty wicked design. who's origins are also debated as well. it's got quite a lot of history for a 9 year old steel coaster.

Well, there have been numerous topics over time on this coaster.......do a search for it to find articles. I personally loved it, and only know that it was closed because of roughness. Maintenance is supposedly being kept up though, and there is talk of it opening soon. For a good amount of info and photos go here: http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail112.htm Photo 3 shows the train navigating the corkscrew that was removed in 94. Now it's just a straightaway into the cutback (Photo 4).

Excelent way to put it.
I always wondered, why'd they remove the corkscrew? I've heard that it was because of the high G's put on the riders while traversing it, but I've never gotten a "confirmed" answer. Anyone know?

There are also a number of petitions around the internet that are asking for DF to be reopened.  Educated arguments are always welcome on any one of those petitions, or you can write a letter to BGW telling them how you feel.
