Hopefully this will settle the rumors swirling around DF.  Work started last week - the coaster is being dismantled.  To my knowledge, no one's quite sure yet if it will be relocated or stored.  It's a shame to see DF leave.  I was there on opening day April 4, 1992, and ended up riding DF hundreds of times in the following years.  I had the honor of working the coaster in the mid-90s.  I certainly had a close relationship with the ride, and I'll always look back at her as a work of art.  But try not to get caught up in the mystique - DF was a rough ride, and if it were open today, it would still be plagued by low ridership.  It suffered from a horrible location, headbanging, and a bad reputation.  Before rumors begin on a replacement, the land occupied by DF really can't be used for a whole lot.  It backs right up to Kingsmill, so anything noisy is out of the question.  Access to the location is hidden, and almost certainly contributed to DF's demise.  I have been told that a train station in that area is not possible  - apparently the grade is too steep to resume a stopped train full of guests.  It would make sense for BGW to expand the Black Forest picnic area into DF's plot, but we'll have to wait and see I suppose.  :-(
