Along with a picture of the day, this text is given at
www.buschgardens.com :
"Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Drachen Fire incorporates many first-of-a-kind elements including a camelback hump that gives a feeling of near-zero gravity. "
Im guessing they are opening it
If you are reading this a couple days after I posted it, then it won't be on the website anymore, hence being the picture of the day.
It's not on their list of attractions for BGW on the web-site, so I wouldn't be too sure that they are opening it. It would be great if they did, but I wouldn't count on it, at least for this year.

Thank you for riding America's Roller Coast
yes the pic is still there on the web site but it doesn't say that it's operating nor is it listed on the parks web site as attractions.
then why do they have it at the picture of the day?
I don't know why it's the pic of the day but's it's not operating nor is it listed to operate
That's interesting...the picture looks new too...I'm guessing it's not opening, but if it was...I would be so excited, since I'm going there next week!

Will be at Busch Gardens Williamsburg April 28th.
It is over 7 years old or very new because it's coming out of the first corkscrew so it's old or it's new and the corkscrew is there again because you see the cut-back in front of the train.
Whatever the case is, DF is not open, and that is pretty much false advertising.
that means that picture is at leats three years old why would it be the picture of the day now

FEAR THE FOUR
Drachen fire what will happen to it?
scanz, It is not false advertising. No one ever said the the BGW site said it was opening. Just because it is SBNO, doesn't mean it never existed, therefore, it was the first with those elements.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
It's true, Drachen Fire isn't listed when you click on attractions. Then again, neither is Ireland, and we know that's opening this season.
Now, I hate seeing that poor blue coaster gathering cob-webs, but I also don't think it will come back without some serious modifications (I liked riding FOF with OTRs, and I didn't like riding this). Still, I won't rule it out just because the web-site doesn't have a listing.
Actually, the train is coming out of the cutback in that picture.

I'm just a question knowing my answer. I hope I'm wrong. - Jets to Brazil
Its not gathering cobwebs as several people in the Busch Gardens brass have said that they're keeping the coaster maintained to open it within a month if they wanted to. If I lived in the area I'd be printing that site out and calling the Busch Gardens PR dept. with questions.

You're right, Randy. I had heard that was the case. I just thought it was more poetic to make the coaster sound neglected.
I suppose I should have said, "Now, I hate seeing that poor blue coaster working intermittently. Only functioning when some high and mighty in the Busch Corporation thinks he (or she) has found a potential buyer and wants to show it off, like a prize winning dog which can still win trophies, but has a tendency to bite."
Yeah, that's a lot better. (please note sarcasm)
Its just like Cedar Point saying that DT has so many props and lights

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
I hear ya Cartsen, there just seems to be some people who didn't know the coaster was still being maintained, and I figured I'd throw in my two cents.
Oh, and your sarcasm is well noted ;)

There are lots of rides that are advertised on websites as being operational. Some of these rides are either having major mechanical difficulties and are closed most of the time or aren't even built yet. My point is that like an advertisement, the website may not reflect reality.
Wild Maus isn't advertised.

Well, the date has changed to Friday on the east coast and guess what the new Photo of the Day is!? You guessed it! Drachen Fire - this time with the caption, "U.S. and Russian fighter pilots test the forces of imagination as they conquer heights on the Drachen Fire roller coaster." Either something cool is about to happen or someone is playing with our minds. Interesting...
