Doubles

Has anyone ever tried to do a double-mat game? I just recently ordered a replacement/upgrade pad and still have an old funcitonal one. Just for fun, I hooked both of them up and I had a blast! I was by myself, but was laughing through entire songs at how ridiculous I must look! Jumping all the way from the left arrow of one mat to the right of another while still facing the TV and trying to deal with moving mats is tough! I think I'm hooked, I played it that way for a good hour! Anyone else ever try this mode?

I've tried it, at home and at the arcade. It's really fun but I suck at it. I can beat a ton of 9-footers on singles, but 6-foot standard is about the best I can do on doubles.

Another interesting thing is to try six-panel mode, if you have Konamix.

Doubles play is hella fun :) Interesting enough, one time I did Burning Heat! on Light Double and nearly failed, but later tried it on Standard and did quite well! Go figure.

I love doubles, and it looks far more impressive (if you're into attention whoring, of course). The only time I've ever AA'd in heavy on my last song for the extra stage was doubles Cutie Chaser.

I very much prefer doubles to singles.

Jeff, you sound like me with DDR. Not normally an attention whore, but when given the chance you'll do it.

Then there's Rob who never ceases attention whoring on DDR machines. And to think, I used to be better than he.

I snap flyers.

I tried doubles once, and only once! I think it was B4U on standard at Knoebels. I loved it up until it really jump around from pad-to-pad. Im only 5'5" and it was just too much for my short legs. So until I get taller, i'll just stick to playing single. But I actually like having short legs... I don't have the big problem of over-stepping the arrows.

As far as how I can do on single, I can do the average song with nearly a perfect combo on standard and I can pass the average song on heavy. The DDR bug bit me last year when I saw people people dancing while I was Christmas shopping at the Columbia Mall in PA. I decided to give it a try, and the people watching something to laugh at. But I could actually do it. That same night I bought DDR Konamix and 2 pads for PS1, and have been playing ever since!

It's more addicting than comming to this site and posting about it! ;)

Yes, Rob is a professional attention whore as we saw for the ten minutes we had the game out at our party.

I like doubles in part because there's more movement, and in part because it requires certain moves that, when you make them, feel really "gee whiz." Sometimes you can almost read what the developer was thinking when they did the song.

That could be your problem right there. The machine at Knoebels has one of the worst pads I've ever played on. The arrows are entirely too spongey to be worth much more than... well... sponges.

HAH! 5'5"

You got 4 inches on me buddy...and I can pass a few doubles catas now.

You need to look inside yourself and find the true attention whore. Only then will you shine ;)
